A free Star Wars X-Wing VR game!! It’s a very well made student project. Quite impressive.
Here’s where you can get the game: / elw98xp
It was made for Oculus, but Vive instructions start at 13:08

And some good news: According to the Reddit posting where I got the game, the creator had been contacted by LucasFilm and they seem to be in the clear!

Nice graphics... only one drawback as I could see. Lasers should hit where the ship is pointing to, not where you are looking at. A Xwing doesnt work like this. But it's a funny simulation.

If they're shooting concentrated bolts of plasma instead then it's more or less accurate.

@@physe8052 I was thinking, that would work fine for a turret in Millenium Falcon, but not for a Z95, Xwing, Awing, Bwing or Ywing. A turret shoots where you look, the guns at any Wing fighter needs you to manuever the ship in order to target at enemies. They should fix that.

The fact that the lasers hit where you look makes it seem like you are shooting them out of your eyes. Works for a superman simulator but not a flight/space sim

In fact it works for a Comanche or Apache Simulator. They use Hud Helmet that controls targeting systems. The machinegun moves accordingly with the gunner / navigator head. But a Xwing doesn't work like that.

If they had limited the aiming cone to a small 5 - 10 ° angle in front then the dev would have realized the ship feels way too stiff. I think. This would be an amazing community project. A little bit of polish would go a long way here. :)

Star Wars is great, but when you have a lot of time in Elite: Dangerous in VR, nothing can match the sights and sounds of that game, for VR space games at least, and simple stuff like this is just kinda meh.

This was made by one guy, Elite dangerous has a whole team working on it. So it makes sense that it's not as great. But at least it's free, and a good thing to try out for people that haven't tried out many space games yet.

Star Citizen (even in it's current alpha) far surpasses Elite's visuals and SFX. The scale, however, is a different story.

@@solaris5303 Yup, Star Citizen surpasses all space sims even in Alpha and is rapidly accelerating away now much of the core work is done. When it gets VR back it will be pretty unbeatable.

@Mysterious MrX Pretty unplayable also. Remember that vr needs a lot more horsepower to run, and as such titles tend to be built from the ground up to be for vr. And SC have gazillions of polys everywhere.

@@kistuszek SC is tons of fun in an org, and I get 80fps pretty easily with my 2060 in space/a station. The performance is nowhere near as bad as it was before complaining players rushed the optimization.

Hello. I just saw this video and was blown away I just recently got back into VR. I currently have a PSVR and I’m aware that a PSVR can hook up and play VR games via Steam. Does anyone know if this game will play on a PSVR?

Looks like it could be fun although I am a bit outraged by the aim by looking thing :) and also I do hope hotas works for it, really hate flying without a stick.

I tried the game with Revive, I can see my wands moving but I can't use any of the Wands buttons (trigger, grip, trackpad, etc...). Should I need to manually map those buttons in the Unity launcher ?

The game won't start in VR, only on desktop. When I click the Revive button in VR I get the message "No Oculus store games found, please make sure the Oculus software is installed". Do I need to install anything, and if yes, what exactly? Great channel BTW :)

Andy Hurley I’d play it almost everyday if it does go to quest!! A true trench run game is needed!!! EA had their chance and F’d it up. The Star Wars battle pod is pretty good! But the price is SO high!!! They should bring battle pod to VR!

*sigh* More Oculus exclusive stuff. Still refuse to use Revive, it shouldn't be necessary. Oculus can use SteamVR, but we're locked out of their garden. So they won't get my time, business or statistics.
