No he was not,he was well rated for the way he played which on a good night was tremendous, but it was what he never played which was Special.I see them 4 Times from early 69 to 1972.
Free guitarist paul kossoff was one of the best players of his era. such a shame he died so young. What a band they were all of them were fine musicians and all of them only teenagers in 1968
Yes, you are right--I grew up in London during their era and met both Koss and Green. A friend of mine used to take lessons from Danny Kirwan around 1971. I recall when Koss worked at a music store in Central London. He was a nice guy and i still miss that sound he had.
They're doing Ride on Pony - Koss is playing in E major (you can tell cause he bars the B major). Rogers is singing the first verse at the beginning (it's easy to lip read him)
If Paul Rodgers had sang in Cream then Jackie boy could have played bass all day long and we would have the best group ever without a shadow of a doubt!!
It does but I actually think this is a better riff and better song, much more soul. This use of wah is very unique to Kossoff though, never heard anyone use it quite like this. The guitar sounds like a worm 🐛
Paul Kossoff had two kids - a boy and a girl - but I'm not sure of their names. He has a brother called Simon but he still lives in the UK and works in television as a cameraman.
With respect to anyone who thinks this vid was fimed by Paul Ks son ? This clip was shot circa 1969 Paul K was just 19, so his son would have been too young at the time of the gig. It was filmed by his brother Simon who happens to share the same name as Pauls son..
Cintia Madeira The Worm by Free We're sitting on the wall Expecting nobody to call Yeah and there ain't no telephone Yeah they know we're all alone Whoa-oh - look around behind your back There goes The Worm Ahhh I guess he'll never learn I'm a peaceful man At the best of times Peaceful man But gossip 'bout my baby Drives me outta my mind Out of my mind When I finish with The Worm They're sure to lock me up inside So my baby has to marry Well that's the burden that I carry So Worm you'd better go Cuz I don't want the whole world to know Whoa-oh - look around behind your back Here comes The Worm Ahhh I guess he'll never learn You know I'm a peaceman man But I mislaid my cool Peaceful man - that's why I am An' what I haven't got it I'm gonna beat you like a mule Whoa.. When I finish with The Worm They're sure to lock me up inside Yeah, Yeah, Yeah!!
Clapton was a big hero of Kossoff’s so not surprising that he was inspired by that song. But I think it doesn’t matter. This song is still its own song and Koss uses wah in such a unique way. Clapton didn’t use wah in the Politician. Cuz of the wah, it kinda sounds like a worm crawling along or something. Also everyone stole from everyone back then, it was encouraged. Blues was all about trading licks. ✌️ I’m sure Clapton took this as a compliment
