Its just regular NFC, it works with android or iPhone. You can buy a pack of them on amazon for cheap!

Nope that wouldn't work with NFC tags, you'd need to buy a Square terminal for that. They are really cheap too and it connects to your phone, my friend had a ice cream stand and he used one!
