Congrats on your newest cello player! I just started studying the cello a month ago…. at 66 years old! I’ve played the guitar for fifty years. I wanna relate a story to you…. Every night id put my three kids to bed then play my guitar for an hour. My office/ studio was on the first floor and the kids bedrooms were upstairs. All my kids are adults now (happens). A short while back we were chatting about music. That’s when my kids shared that i would unknowingly lull them to sleep with my guitar music. They told me they’d listened to me every night for years! And to this day they consider it a treat when i play for them now! There is no better compliment that anyone could pay me that beats this! They were my best audience!! Play for your baby. Put your baby to sleep with beautiful cello music every night ! You eventually get a payoff from them in the form of pure appreciation. You’ve been helping me along with my new journey! I study under an amazing teacher at the famous Settlement Music School in Philly. What an organization! But you’ve been supplimenting my learning here on RU-vid. I taught martial arts for decades. It’s not easy being able to communicate ideas to kids and adults sometimes. But you have a gift. You’re able to break down sometimes difficult concepts to beginning musicians that’s distinctly you! You have a gentle way about you that people would graciously follow. I recently asked my teacher if she would teach me vibrato and she turned me down! Im not ready! But I’m able to figure out songs on an instrument that ive never played before. Vibrato on a guitar happens without thought. It’s a whole different ball game on the cello! It’s almost a reflex. It’s something that I disagree with my teacher about but…. Im my own man and I’m going to learn vibrato… starting Now!! Thanks Man Eric S. Is this your first baby? The first one is always the hardest !!!

What video set up are you using on your side to record yourself walking without having a bouncy video? Looks great!

Hey Billy! Recent subscriber, current cello adult learner of 1 year's exp at age 31, lol. Something I've been struggling with a lot is DYNAMICS! I seem to have a very hard time with (a) maintaining a given loudness without growing louder or quieter; (b) being able to change dynamics subtly (say from mezzopiano to mezzoforte, for ex); and (c) being able to have a nice smooth (de)crescendo. I just searched; and it doesn't look like you currently have a video about dynamics! Is that a topic you'd think about covering in a future video? Thanks and Peace to you.
