my hunger was not in vain. +++++++++++++ love.. When My my heart gives out, it'll Never cease Beating For you.. and please know that: my hunger was not in vain. because it's taught me the meaning of *true loss. (though my desires were never gained.) * i still count the seconds Love,.. and .. they're still small eternities which keep you far from me. yet fondly i recall those Grave-Shadows in your Eyes. (they are the Rainbows of My Memory.) * speaking of Hearts.. Nothin breaks one quite like your Face; and i love how your smile tears worlds apart! (then leaves the pieces in a Better Place.) * i wish you understood how sacred you are. how even the shittiest of things seem better in your Presence. you are an Ever-Shining Star! (which leads to many Heavens.) * Love.. When my heart gives out it'll Always Beat for You, so my hunger was not in Vain. and Your Memory has made My Shadow Life A Rainbow! (regardless if it Ends In Pain.) J.Stephen.H
Girl this is the BEST video EVER, your video was incredibly helpful for me. I am currently writing a book and I cannot wait to use these helpful tools you mentioned. BRAVO!!!!
I highly recommend ywriter, at least for PC users. There is a MacOS version in beta but I haven't used it so maybe good, maybe not. It's especially great for the more outliner type of writers. It has lots of built in note taking and outlining capabilities.
Ywriter is without a doubt the best free novel writing software to be found. The only downside is that the UI is UGLY and there is a small learning curve. But it is super robust and it can track nearly every facet of your project.
@@Redundant_underscore I don't want good looking, that would be distracting. The more utilitarian the better, LOL. I absolutely can not stand anything like word where half the screen is full of icons that I have no idea what they do and don't need.
Hey Iasmina, thanks for all of your open and honest vids. As a non-fiction popular science writer, I am often distracted by all of the plot and character tools in writing software and underwhelmed by the tools offered for books intended to explain complex concepts. In particular, when I write I want to be able to write notes in the margins, notes not only to myself but also to my readers. I imagine my book's layout to have the main body text only occupying a column perhaps half or 3/5th the width of the page, with the large margin space available for me to populate with asides, explanations, pull quotes, figures, graphs, illustrations, photos, maps, portraits, step by step guides, side projects, historical notes, biographical notes, experimental data, and other ephemera related to the main body text beside it. Yes yes yes of course there are professional book layout experts who I can hire to do this after the fact, but I'd like to do so as I write, as I work, as I think. I can not find any writing software that allows me to do this both for notes and figures I want to include in my published work, but also notes to me and to to my editors and publisher. Do you know of any software that I could acquire and use in this way? I have of course tried layout software, like affinity publisher and apple iBook author, but these applications aren't flexible, don't easily allow me to make changes to my text or margin notes without screwing up the entire rest of the book. Thanks for your help. Randall
This list of great writing tools means maybe I can pretend the problem is not having the right tools and that it isn't just me and my lack of discipline! For real though, thanks for the list of tools, I'm a huge stat nerd so I'll probably give Shaxpir a try. And Scrivener just seems too good to pass up.
I use Word because it has a lot of features I like. Yes, it has a lot more than I need, but at least I know it will do what I need it to do. I also love the newly added Dark Mode because it's better than being blasted with a white screen all day and night, and yes, I write all day and night. I like Google Docs too, but mainly for taking notes. LibreOffice and Apache OpenOffice are very good too. I like Pages but I don't use a Mac. I have it on my phone but don't use it. But I do use Word on my phone.
Something about typewriter sounds just makes me want to write more, it's such a nice clicking sound, honestly. Who knows, Might even save up to buy a literal typewriter just to have one. Could be fun to use lol.
Thanls i really appreciate you for giving us those apps i raged Because all microsoft apps were not free and i need a writer app so i can help my sister to finish her presentation thanks
Thank you for this helpful video. I like simple writing apps as well, just to write my chapters and outlines. But I also find the app with the timelines helpful because sometimes I like to write out timelines and character bios, summaries and side stories. Especially for my longer novels like my book series. And back in the 90s when I would write on paper in notebooks, I would make character bio sections and backstories and timelines as well. I would just write them on the side of the paper and draw a box around it to organize it. :) But I agree that simple is best just to focus on the words on a blank paper. And I used to be annoyed with the old typewriter because we couldn't change the font size. The title had to be the same size as the rest of the story. xD
Bless you. This is my first NaNoWriMo and I'm looking for some free software to try my limits. I can buy Scrivener later if I'm doing this mess every year.
problem I have with google docs is the fact that it uses the cloud and when that gets full you can't use it anymore and they threaten to delete all the files if you dont buy more
That's why I don't like using online software, it's a pain. I'm subscribed for space but it fills up so fast I can't work with it which is a shame because the feature to be able to work from anywhere is great. Ideas are always popping into my head at the randomest moments but I've taken to keeping a pen and notebook with me now instead.
@@Gemzstone1 I wouldn't mind if they let you actually download the files to KEEP on your hard drive so you can delete old things but apparently thats not the case. Had all my stuff save to a memory stick, deleted the work from google docs, it still registers as being full and wont let me continue working... I hate google now, so shady.
I use pages, and it is awesome, but sad that it is only for Mac, as i cannot move to a laptop from iPad. And also the issue of this specific forms ‘.pages’ that needs some bells and whistles to transfer and work on other devices that are not Mac(
So, which would you recommend for someone who writes only 1 or 2 times a week, maybe 300 - 400 words? Grammerly is deceptive. They said I could try it for free. Now after a year, they say I owe them $144.00 for another year. I refused to pay it because there was no notice from them that my time was up. I canceled it but it is still on my computer and I have tried to remove it but so far I can't.
WritewayPro is free and has the left side menus others have (there are instructions on the main website). It is outdated but a completed program. Otherwise, for such short amount of words I suggest ywriter as it focuses on scenes instead of full chapters. Pastebin can work too.
So... was watching a video similar to yours where they showed word processing apps with some of them having text to speech programs to read to you. IS there an app yet for having the reverse of that where it types as you speak? Like having a word processing tablet or ipad be able to record you just talking into it and it recording what you say on a word processor?
I’ve been writing and I’m at about 80000 words. I’m getting tied up in knots wondering if I’ve already used an idea/turn of phrase… which software will identify duplication for me? Am I essentially too late to get good moneys worth from it?
What can I use to write stories offline with? Is there something that I can integrate pictures with? Or do I have to buy something or be online for that?
My three writing software......Abiword for office type work ( I no longer need huge office suites ) Cherrytree for most notes. FocusWriter - for anything else.
Don't get Shaxpir, it is crap. 1st off, why the hell do I got to logon when it's on my computer? 2nd, if you log off for a long time it won't let you back in, it'll just stick on synchronizing. The software does not even have a find and replace like word, an invaluable tool for writing. It ain't worth you time even if it works all the time which it doesn't. Oh, and good luck trying to uninstall it! Scrivener is better but it cost 90$ and is still missing that valuable find and replace all, that word has.
Scrivener is not a free writing software programme, so why is it in your list?? They are a company based here in the UK, and I have paid for my software from them - like millions of others???
@@MrJungle123 I think you should look at your spelling, instead of commenting on my personal idiosyncracy of using multiple question marks for emphasis/sarcastic effect.
@@karonmcgregor4753 hmmm. Except there's a difference between an unintentional typo and someone intentionally being sloppy and incorrect, surely you see the difference? A writer of all people too; the irony! a) why not just use '!?' Which is the correct way of implying emphasis to a question. b) nothing you wrote was sarcastic so adding extra, unnecessary question marks at the end doesn't change that. Geez what an imbecile.
Google docs used to be offline, I was so mad when it wasn't. But I think there is an option where you can add documents to an offline folder. But there are apps called Novelist and Writer Plus that are offline.
You are insanely pretty. Wow. Now that I got that out of the way. I really appreciate you going into the programs and experiencing using them then sharing it with us.
what a joke lol i love it when it says is free things then says "oh it has a free trial" Like didn't it say in the beginning something about having it forever?
bibisco Free Community is..... to put it as kind as I can, Junk! I worked 7even hours and produced less than 500 words. Zero Documentation. Before I could start, there was a set of wickets to go through without any explanation of why. Formatting? What formatting. The process of actual writing content was like writing in a basic text document, I have not seen in more than thirty years. Seven hours of intense effort produced less than 500 words! I tapped the "export" button - nothing happened. I installed the program on my Windows 11 Desktop with the programs' instructions to match my current Windows system. Don't know why I had to do that. If I wanted to insult my worst enemy, I would recommend this piece of junk.
