I had a Freebord back in the day and the biggest thing that helped me was to get my mind to think I was on snow. Visually seeing asphalt but carving like snow messed with my head. Total mental block and made me try to ride it like a regular skateboard or longboard. Once I locked in my mind that it was snow and treated it like snowboarding it felt REALLY natural. Those new trucks look awesome. Be prepared to wear down lots of wheels. They start to taper pretty quickly as you carve and stop a bunch. I think the new style trucks would probably help make them wear down more evenly though. Super fun boards to ride for sure.

@@carsonmorris2708 I had an older board back in 2004. You can find them sometimes on eBay or your local craigslist, but if you want the new style board indiegogo is the only place. And honestly the price on IndieGoGo is probably worth the extra instead of trying to get an older used freebord.

Freeboarding is pretty easy when you disconnect from your skating mind set (same with snowboarding - gotta let go of the thinking that it will just go straight naturally). Saying it's like snowboarding though is probably not the best comparison as the ride style is a definite side step. In snowboarding you lean into the edge and sink your stringer, in flowboarding you almost need to be lifting the non-held edge and are rocking your weight OVER your stringer.

No helmet while street skating is one thing because you're going much slower and can run-out most bails, but longboarding or freeboarding without a helmet!!!! That is close to insane.

i mean there are safe ways to bail while hill bombing, you have to spread out your body and slide like people on motercycles have to do, youll tear up your clothes and scartch your body but wont seriously injure yourself

I Love these Jawns for Off Season Like Snowboarding. I picked up on it in about 2 hours. Have an All Terrain Jawn to that's great for Downhill Dirt Trails with Dirt Jumps for Banging 180s & 360s plus different Grab Tricks

One thing I picked up from snowboarding lessons was you steer with your back leg and front shoulders. It looked like mogley immediately fell because he was trying to steer like with skateboarding which is done by making your front foot lighter.

@@cruxmind I still love braille but lance added a personality and humor to the videos that they have been unable to replicate. Same with carlos, his ability to absorb any guest skaters lessons and apply it to his own style was AMAZING to watch. With that said I really like all of the remaining members and still think braille is representing skate culture really well.

It’s exactly like snowboarding. Keep an edge but don’t dig your heels in when facing the hill or your toe side when your back is facing the hill.

Have you tested what board types you can use with the 187 backpack. I was looking for some Braille items to get but the items I am looking at are non Braille merchandise. Have been waiting your channel and it has me wanting to skate again but trick and pushing are not something I can do right now. Looking to get an electric longboard in a couple months. But right now going to use my dirt bike gear until I can find things I like and want to rep. Thank you for making skating family fun time.

hard to pick up like snowboarding I guess, I've tried riding one a bit before I traveled to learn snowboarding. Haven't tried freebording again since, I would like to to see how it is now that I've actually snowboarded. The 5x might take my money, btw I'm in Brazil so it's hard & pricy to get a hold of one.

Trust me you cant ride it like a skateboard. Its hella fun tho. That balance of carve and slide is what really held me back. Now i'm good on toe slides and working on my heel slides.
