I had to select "Fuse" in the array dialog for this to work on Freecad 0.21.2. Perhaps, because instead of on e cylinder I ws trying to cut with a fusion of three cylinders.
I tried to make a cut on two shapes constructed with part-design workbench, but I failed. Is it mandatory (in order to work as intended) to use the part workbench? Other than that - hell of a video!
Great tutorial. Just wanted to add this. At 1:33 to drag the labels of your ring, press ESC first. Then you can select them. And at 1:48 you rotate. Since I'm a beginner I had to Google how to. You can either click your middle mouse button first, hold it, and then click your left mouse button to rotate. Or if the click function of your middle mouse button is broken like mine, use hold shift and then click right mouse button. Thanks for the tutorial. 😃
Good tutorial. I now know that I would have been completely lost if trying to tinker on my own -- there are too many esoteric elements to make intuitive sense to a lay person. That said. What is this madness! There has got to be a better way. I am repressing judgement until I become more knowledgeable, but my "WHY?!" reflex is being seriously triggered.
I am 2 hours into a five minute tutorial. I have four rings and I can't get rid of the other three without removing the last one. I just want to pull out all my hair. My computer does things that are unexplainable; it is as though it has its own mind and is working against me. I should just start over again but that would mean that I failed and I'm not ready to admit that yet.
I have a lot of problems becose i have using autodesk inventor for a long long time. Now autodesk inventor is too expensive and for my hoby pojects i must learn new softwares and Free CAD is my first choice and i not reget it. So powerfull free software and so great. Just need some time to learn it ...
Need help at 3:26 I couldnt understand what he said. He says 3 parts but only selects 2? Also I dont have that cut tool anywhere. Is it only on the pro version or am I missing something?
how to make two holes of different sizes? I first tried using one size and I was successful. Once "ring" and "polar array" are converted into "cut", how do I use "ring" again with another "polar array" of different size cylinder. In my project I need to make two holes of different sizes in a box, So I am using "array" instead of "polar array".
Thank you for the video and subscribed. Can you create a tutorial as how to go about designing a hollow cylindrical Stevenson screen enclosure (with vertically stacked circular louvers) for a DIY weather station.
For anyone that can't find the "auto constraints" setting, there is now a drop down menu next to where it says "filter" within the constraints box on the left.
he just explained it in this video. Watch the video again where he cuts the cylinder out of the ring. Select both parts and click the "Cut" tool button.
