The soundtrack to this game is so awesome. And the game itself reminded me of my days on the Genesis. It felt more like an actual Sonic game to me than any of the modern sonic after the original trilogy and CD, barring Mania because that was great too.
Never played this game before, but SomecallmeJohnny recommended it and liked the soundtrack. Thought I'd listen to the soundtrack for a bi- *music starts playing* Ooooooooh, yesssssssssss.
alek chaney it's a fan made sonic platform game the characters are lilac the dragon the purple girl carol the wildcat the green girl and milla the rabbit there fighting to save there planet
I cannot be the only person here who took literally four and a half hours trying to beat the final boss(es). I was playing on hard, though, so maybe I should’ve seen that coming.
Aqua Tunnel B, Relic Maze A, Sky Battalion, Jade Creek B, Final Dreadnought A, B and C, Mini Boss, Boss 1, Boss 4, Final Boss Brevon, Schmup and Disaster 1 all stick in my head more than the rest, but the entire soundtrack is first class, hats off to them for making it so consistent.
The amount of love put into this soundtrack is tremendous! It's hard to choose one best because this game have so many good tracks! Relic Maze B, Thermal base A, Fortune Night - Mall, Mini Boss, Boss 1, Final Dreadnought A, Final Dreadnought C, Sky Battalion and Prince Dail Boss Battles are my favourites.
Arko777777 My favourites are: Aqua Tunnel 2, Relic Maze B, Sky Battalion, Thermal Base B, Final Dreadnought A and C, Boss 1, Prince Dail Boss, Boss 4 and Final Boss Brevon :D
About the second boss theme, AKA Neera Li Boss Battle. Unless I'm missing something, the theme never plays when you fight Neera Li; She simply gets the Mid Boss theme. The song plays when you fight Spades in Trap Hideout.
Relic Maze 1 and Rescue are my Favourite Music Tracks in the Game and in my top 5 of any Music Track! They just suit the scene of the Game really well, like Relic Maze sounds so majestic and gorgeous and melts my ears. While Rescue, is my preferred style of music, being fast-paced stuff (I love Sonic) and it just fits with the games theme and gives you hope. But, I can't decide between them because OHHHH MYYYY GOOOOODDDDDD!!!!! SO AMAZING!!!! :D Heck! My favourite level is Relic Maze and sections of the cutscenes with Rescue are amazing just because of the music! Now That's Passion. When the soundtrack came out! I bought it straight away!! YEAAAAA!!!
This game needs to get more attention. I don't think we'll see a sequel until that happens though. Too much obscurity. I would love a Sonic game given this much love and attention again. SEGA had it with the first games and they NAILED IT with Sonic CD and Sonic 3 and Knuckles! You know why? Sonic CD was made as a labor of love by the developers and Sonic 3 was when the company wanted to desperately take down the Nintendo giant still! This is why Sonic is really lackluster in comparison now because their is no longer any care and attention being made to the aesthetics of games like Sonic Lost World and Boom because the company doesn't want to invest any imagination with it's characters and sense of immersion. They want to make money by catering to a large demographic that isn't there for the hedgehog. Little kiddies instead of 12-16 year olds and above like they used to. I'm glad games like Freedom Planet exist to bring back some of the passion that have been lost with games like this. Here's hoping they can bring something even better to the table next time!
@@AgdaFingers Reading this in retrospective is kinda funny. I awaited summer 2019 so much, and we got it on sep 2022 lol. Good news, it's an amazing game! Every studio should delay the game if they have reasons to do so imo. Better this than having an ok game 3 years prior
54:14 and onwards is such an amazing song progression! :´-) Many thanks for this wonderfully eclectic soundtrack where I can hear various bits and influences, ranging from Sonic, Megaman, some good old SNES RPGs and even an outro sequence reminiscent of Radiohead.
I sorta feel like you could take thermal base B and just put it in a level with a bunch of water. Like i feel like flowing water and rain fit the music perfectly. And every time i listen to it, that is exactly what i imagine.
I rule a game by the quality of its soundtrack (not really but its a good guideline) and this game has the sweetest retro feel i ve heard in a very long time! reminds me a lot of hajimari no ishi (of the swordcraft story which had pretty awesome soundtrack)... good days!
Yeah! This soundtrack is so good that everybody uses this ost in their levels! An example of this being used in a flood escape level is terminal II and Lushette!
I can tell you really liked the music for Aqua Tunnel a lot, seeing how it's placed as the first songs you hear and it isn't even the first stage of the game. Poor Dragon Valley got bumped to second place.
I truly believe this game should get more notice, who knows. Maybe a lot know about it but most of them think it's a sonic rip-off, and just didn't try it out. Freedom Planet is a really good game!
love invincibility, best song in the game, always loved to find find and break the crystal and then ruuuuuuuun to this song...the intro song is great as well, probably like it since invinc is its remix...
I think Final Dreadnought C was also the intro when you start a new game. With the narrator that says; "A crisis has befallen our world... For centuries our kingdom has depended on the kingdom stone-" etc.
For some odd reason when fighting Brevon in his final fight, the music reminds me of when I’m fighting Geese Howard at the end of Fatal Fury 😂. Maybe it’s those thrash guitars in his soundtrack combined with Brevon’s annoying throws, just like Geese!! 😂😂👍
Rising Light Exactly what I thought too, all those garbage attempts by SEGA to try and keep the sonic title going, and this is what they should have done imo, much more story, but also non story mode, and the details etc!
As much as I love Freedom Planet I completely disagree with your comment. Nothing puts the original Genesis Sonic games to shame at ALL. S3K and Sonic CD are the two best Sonic games to date and nothing can compare to their awesomeness.
o, and I thought...only a few songs were good but all of them I've heard so far are...awesome! I guess watching let's plays makes it hard to heart the music...
This is what the music for the next sonic game should be like. Sonic 4 in particular should have been as original as this game in both sound and looks.
5:05 For some reason Im getting the feint impression that a portion of the 1st stage of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers SNES game was used. It has that vibe in the beats.
While I wish this game received the high praise and success like Shovel Knight, it wouldn't be as magical and such a hidden, wonderful gem in both OST and gameplay.
I think there are a number of reasons this game is relegated to "cult classic" and I think aesthetic doesn't help when the internet has pet hates over furries, DeviantArt and... well... Sonic. The existence of Sonic Mania only further buries this game in further obscurity. Also I really feel like the story with it's poorly written dialogue and huge tonal whiplash drags the game down quite a bit... not helped by the characters are quite one dimensional. Even down to personality Lilac is just a female version of Sonic. But at the same time I get the impression that the existence of bloopers and the fact that the story is skippable means that the story was never meant to be taken seriously. Gameplay wise this and Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair are just as good as Shovel Knight, I guess SK just did more to make itself stand out from it's inspirations in the public eye than this or YL, people just see it as a straight up Sonic clone or hear how it was originally a fan game and therefore think it doesn't have anything of it's own to offer.
Hey, BlueWarrior helped with the soundtrack? It's a small world I guess. I'm re-listening to this soundtrack now and holy shit it's as amazing as I remember it.
They are hearing aids confirmed. Lilac is part water dragon and so has sonar sensitive fins instead of regular ears. She hears poorly out of water and so wears hi-tech ear aids. A defect and fix common for her species.
all of the music is in the games files, since it sounds like you played the game on steam, you should have them already. look in program files 86 > steam > steamapps > common > freedom planet > data > BGM. You can play them in audacity.
