Not all gears are created equal. There are two main ways to attach gears to a bike wheel: freehubs and freewheels. It's important to know what you have, but how do you tell the difference?
Sir, good day. I have recently purchased an advent X gravel groupset. I will have it installed tomorrow. I have read some reviews that the advent X cassette somehow has somekind of unusual play in the freehub which may eventually lead to some issues. Can you suggest something to solve that small play/movement of the cassette to the free hub? Will appreciate your reply the soonest. Cheers!
Freewheel inferior to cassette? Or just that they lack the option to upgrade gears? I plan to buy a cycle with freewheel for casual and daily commuting to the office in the city. No mountain biking. Am I good to go with a freewheel then?
Freewheels have some disadvantages in terms of weight and versatility, but people have put plenty of miles on bikes with freewheels. For commuting it should be fine. You can always replace the rear wheel with a cassette hub version if you're having trouble.
Upgrading to a high quality freehub and shimano deore transmission from a freewheel was the best investment ever. Efficiency and stability increased dramatically.
lol............. If people can't figure this out! without a how to! Please for the love of god! take it to the nearest bike shop right after you are done watching this video so you don't get injured......
