Probably the best game/storyline I've ever played. God I wish I live to see the day a sequel (or remastered) version arrives... Every planet, space station and system had a story to tell. Likewise the idea of 4 (5/6) houses (long live Bretonia) was truly fantastic and unique. Definitely sequel material to be had there too! Discovery mod was in essence a sequel but the game could do with a new engine and rebirth. Also this time I want to make sure Bretonia gets exclusive mining rights in the Tau systems over Kusari and hopefully stop us getting bullied by the Kusurian and then Gallic militaries haha
@Viriatus PC Fuck Star Citizen, I want something as basic but as engaging as this game was. And hopefuly without Microsoft fucking over and cutting production early.
I played this game over and over and just had a new run a few weeks ago. It's still a timeless gem, even though the grafics are a bit dated. But I got to say this intro is even more epic, with the german voicing I always hear when starting it up. 😊
Such a cool cinematic. I especially like the part starting at 2:16 , following the smaller ships as they descend toward s the planet. Seems like someone could make a game that actually looks like this cinematic these days. The part at the end where he says "But we will never forget." doesn't really have any bearing on the actual game though does it?
I hadn't seen the Director's Cut until recently. I always took it to mean (something along the lines of) we will never forget the war that plunged humanity into desperation and chaos, therefore we should strive to avoid such a thing again and work toward the betterment of humanity instead of fighting amongst ourselves.
I saw the long intro and never knew they butchered it so badly before the final release.... then I bought the game and all I got was this... I was HIGHLY disappointed.
this was my first thought also, BUT sometimes less is more, and in this intro you only don't know there is an alien race, so until half of the game you really don't know we are not alone, I think its worked (also I liked the idea there is still an Earth back somewhere)
Exact opposite here, I didn't know about the long intro until some years ago and I am very glad they didn't use it for the release. Even the alien spoilers aside, the extended cinematic takes away from the game you are playing since it focuses on a conflict that has nothing to do with the game. (800 years ago in a galaxy far far away) We aren't trying to get back to that conflict, history remains history and we moved on.
