One of my pandemic projects has been trying this on an 1893 treadle machine that I've refurbished. It's actually as easy if not more so than on my Janome Heavy Duty machine.

Hi Chilka - Most likely, you need to adjust the tension to default settings, but also try using the same thread in the top and bottom of the machine.
