Funny thing..Yesterday I finished a landscape and I sewed some pine trees on it , and now I come across you video to see other people are doing the same. When I first discovered that one can lower the feed-dogs and just free motion quilt I thought " well, this is like drawing with a needle" I love it! Thank you that through your video you open our minds to do things as easy as this!

I've ALWAYS wondered why people didn't do this more! Not being proficient at FMQ, I just assumed my idea was unfeasible. Thank you for showing this! It's amazing and beautiful. You can really customize the quilting for whomever you're making the quilt. So much love for this.

I even had the impression that nobody thought of this before just to find this video and see I am not as original as I thought I was, hahaha!

Wow the task seems daunting but you are fabulous, I want to use this technique to essentially design my John Hancock for a Fashion title I hope to invent.

I think the kind of foot you use makes all the difference. I bought one for my machine recently but it's plastic and sort of square and, although see-through, it doesn't give a really good view of what I'm doing. Think the embroidery foot like the one on your machine looks the best kind to use!

Hi, I absolutely love this, and want to have a go. I am only recently into sewing, and making my own clothes, is it possible to do free motion without the quilting, as I would like to customise some garment? Thanks so my h for sharing. A xcc

It's not my channel so sorry for butting in here but you don't seem to be getting a reply. I think you can - I would reinforce the stitching just like you would with if you were to add embroidery to a garment. The sky is the only limit.

As you advised, I was brave, and I had a go..........and another go, but my house did not look like yours!! I know it takes a bit of practice - much like drawing or writing on paper but my problem was the machine (a Brother FS40) wasn't co-operating. Everything was set up correctly - presser foot, dropped feed dog but thread kept knotting/bunching. I dabbled a bit with changing the tension but I'm new to this and didn't know what the problem was. Do you need to change the tension or have a special needle?

Hi Dolly! A fresh needle might help, but if you're experiencing bunching/bird's nest then the problem is the tension. Try adjusting your tension to higher numbers (more tension) and do some tests on a scrap sandwich until you get the tension just right.
