I'm from Cincinnati and when I was in HS I met Gary Webb who is from a town just outside the city, I was probably 16 or 17 and in just the few minutes I spoke to him he told me that he was an author which interested me since I wanted to be a writer back then. He told me his book was about the government sponsoring the shipment of trainloads of cocaine in the US. I'll never forget that feeling of confusion, looking at him with a totally straight face and telling me something so crazy when nothing, I mean nothing else about him was crazy or off. I had no idea who he was until years later when I saw the movie they made about him.
