@SarahBrown-yw7gt I've tried it. It does dry but I wouldn't bank on it having a long shelf life. The precooked real crumbles from Sam's Club seemed to work the best out of the couple ways we tried.
Beautiful new studio, congratulations. Had to laugh when you said you forgot to close drain valve, I’ve done that and thought the FD was broken until I learned.
Just made a batch in a Harvest Right XL. A full batch was 180 eggs scrambled, 12lb of sausage and 10lb of shredded cheddar cheese. I portioned it 10oz to a bag anticipating 5 servings per bag. Next batch I'll get more creative and add more ingredients.
@@WilliamClayborn-l2d I think it took about about 2 days but I can't remember exactly because I know it ran longer. because I remember adding time till I was ready to store it.
Welcome to Idaho!!! Hope you had a Great time!! This is a great video going to do this soon & great way to use those springtime huge laying time eggs!! New kitchen is great!!
Hey❤️ I may not know you personally however I care about you deeply because I know how much you mean to Jesus The King of all creation . I want to tell you that Jesus Christ loves you so much, he died for our sins so that whoever believes in him wouldn’t have to perish in hell but instead have eternal life in heaven. You need to understand that HEAVEN and HELL are 1000% REAL they aren’t imaginary , and hell is a horrible place I wouldn’t wish on my worst enemy. God doesn’t want you to end up there he wants you in heaven and so he is giving you a chance to accept the sacrifice of his son Jesus Christ and be saved. Day by Day the world is falling apart because we are literally living in the last days of Earth there is no doubt or debate about it, Jesus Christ is coming faster then you think to bring judgement to the world and to destroy it. This really is URGENT, it’s NOT A JOKE ,Tomorrow isn’t promised to anyone, you can be alive one minute and gone the next, please take this opportunity to be on the side of Mercy confess your sins and wicked ways to Jesus , sincerely REPENT/turn away from them, and ask for his forgiveness- ask him to enter your heart and to be your Lord and Savior before it is too late , truly believe in him and he WILL do it because it is his promise. It’s important that you seek the righteous and Holy path of the Most high God so that you may inherit eternal life and be spared of Hell fire. You can begin a new life in Christ and have a genuine relationship with him, please repent. Jesus changed my life and he will change yours too🥰, May the Lord be with you eternally💕🙏🏾
Made something similar for a recent camping trip. Other than the eggs not rehydrating awesome (they were ok, just a bit rubbery). Cheese did make it better, as well as some seasoning powder. Would definitely make it again!
Brian you are just brilliant! Your videos could not be more perfect! Thank you for yet another wonderful, insightful and educational video. You are an inspiration
I would think rehydrating in the bag is a whole lot better than in a bowl because it's sealed with the humidity locked in. I do notice you tend to rehydrate in a bowl but for most people who are eating freeze dry food in an austere environment wouldn't have the luxury in a skillet pan or clean bowl's. Anyhow, love your channel/content 🤙

Next time on the scrambled eggs, use a silicone spatula to fold the eggs over towards the middle of the pan. That will be less likely to scrape off any of the non-stick coating. What are the low oil cheeses that you can recommend? Do you already have a list or a video?
Mine too. You won't avoid it. They still have 97% of the nutrients. Even the commercial freeze dried manufacturers can't avoid it. Most of my FD eggs are raw,,,but I keep a supply of precooked for hunting and backpacking.
Really awesome video! I know you mentioned in other videos also high fat foods are not good but can you freeze dry bacon and sausage if you cook it down most of the fat out of it?
ABOUT THE NUMBER OF EGGS YOU CAN SCRAMBLE: Before seeing this, I scrambled TWO DOZEN eggs to be freeze-dried. I first blended them all in our blender. I cooked them on low (2) in a very large non-stick pan, and they turned out perfect. You won't burn them if you cook them on low and stir occasionally, especially paying attention when they are near to done.
@@soldbytammybryant It’s a plow disc shaped carbon steel for cooking. Sometimes referred to as a cowboy wok. I bought one of mine from southwest disc and the other from Academy sports. www.southwestdisk.com
Love your wallpapper! I DEHYDRATED onions, peppers and mushrooms about a year ago. Do you know if i can add them when i cook the pots. Or should i rehydrate them first. Do you know if DEHYDATED foods can just be put in freeze dryer? I have some jars pushing a year and can't use them all up. Thanks for your help.
Maybe I'll try eggs again. It was the first thing I ever put in my f.d. and it turned out nasty. I had potatoes, eggs, ham. And everything tasted like ham.
I retired at 40 for about 2 months and got so bored I turned FDing into a career. My kids are in school and all my friends still work, so i needed something to keep me busy. I now work less but still have the ability to stop
@@live.life.simple. it takes some getting used to,,,15 years for me....and you must have hobbies. FD'ing is a good one. Fish, hunt, hike, travel,,,and FD'ing. Good luck!!
My eggs never re-hydrate well once cooked. I have generally given up on cooked eggs freeze dried. Always the raw FD batch for me. If you are breaking out the skillet, may as well just add the flavorings to the raw egg and cook it there. In true shtf scenario, you want all your stuff cooked. Maybe throwing and cooking the eggs prior to freezing with all the ingredients will actually blend the flavors more, and keep the chunks thinner. Always get your eggs off the skillet while they are still glistening wet. They continue to cook when removed, and an over cooked egg is just rubber.
I have started weighing my bags when I store them. Then weighing again when I get ready to prepare them. I will know if there has been any moisture entering the bag.
Quick question, if you took out your green beans and turned off the machine and find that they were not ready yet, How can I dry them again in the machine?
@@live.life.simple. thats kinda what i was thinking, makes sense, thanks for clarifying this. very proud of you, even if im not your momma, great job kidoe!
Thats a tricky answer. I don't eat alot of cheese but I believe Tillamook does well. You have to shred it yourself. Just look at first ingredients listed
Nice recipe. I'll try it; been doing individual ingredients successfully. However, I have read that saturated fat does not go rancid because of its structure; it is unsaturated oils that go rancid. So --- seems to me you could cook your veggies in butter and not have to be so fat-free.
I hate that you Dis Mountain House so much! If you were doing these meals to sell, dealing with our commie government regulations, paying employee benefits and all the other crap that comes with making a food product for sales, then maybe the criticism would be better received. I understand you want to do a better product but Mountain House has great quality in the bought freeze dried space and I get tired of your criticism of them at every turn. For those who can't afford a Freeze Dryer they remain a good choice for camping, backpacking and I bought them periodically for my long term food storage plan prior to buying my freeze dryer. You don't have to trash a good company to promote yourself. Just saying....
Mountain house is about 50/50 when it comes to the quality of their food. If I am going to spend $10 or more on a freeze dried meal that feeds 1 person, I would expect some quality ingredients and something that tastes good.
@@live.life.simple. You are blessed to have the option. Many can't afford to plunk out 3 grand for a freeze drying machine. For some it is their only option. I was introduced to freeze dried food via Mtn. house for backcountry camping and we were very pleased given the ease of use, lightweight of the food and not having to lug pounds of food around the mountains. I'm not saying it's the best but every time I see you doing comparisons you are very dismissive of the product and I don't think that is a fair read. And prior to the current economic destruction we spent about 9 bucks on a meal to feed two people. All things considered I'd say it was a good trade for what we were doing. If the only way I could get food that lasted 25 years was to buy mountain house, I'd be very happy with the product. I guess it depends on your perspective and your capabilities. I am blessed to be able to make my own now and that brings better quality and better choice but it wasn't cheap.
@@robynlay3917 Don't get your panties in a wad. One day, you'll be able to afford a Harvest Right and enjoy quality meals. Until then, keep eating your garbage Mountain House.
@@aaronn.1088 What a nasty person you must be. I own a HR freeze dryer and have put up a lot of supply for my family over the last year. However, there are many who can not afford the luxury of the machine or the space to house it - which was what my comment addressed. Too bad you don't know or understand as much as you think you do..lol..
This is certainly on my list of recipes I will try in the near future. I just finished up Hammock Camping. 2 days ago I had my mom's chili recipe that I freeze dried. Last night I had the same thing except I put it in a blender to make hot dog chili and freeze dried that. Both recipes came out fantastic. Only thing that sucks is I lost two hot dogs that fell off into the fire LMAO
I just bought my med freeze dryer. When moving it to its forever home, my husband accidentally tipped the pump and stilled the oil out. I've ordered more oil from Harvest Right, but the order is taking forever. Is it possible to use another oil without damaging or voiding the warranty?
Glad you came to Idaho. Funny thing is that I was up camping this weekend. Except I was in Challis, Idaho. We did Quiche. It's even easier to rehydrate and eat.
