i love when the biscuits have i bit of crunch to them, i call peak refuel and mountain house Bachelor Chow lol. Just an FYI for the folks at home, the peak refuel you got to break the biscuits up into small pieces before you put the water in
OK, the presentation may not be all that good, but the content is F'ing hilarious. This is my first of your videos and I have already subscribed and liked. What else do you want from me? And no, I do not have your qualifications.... 🙂
Thanks for the review! We haven't pulled the pin on any particular freeze-dried meal company yet, but I think we're finally getting close to a decision. Yeah, I know... we've probably put it off much longer than we should have. We're probably far too picky when it comes to food, but whatcha gonna do? When you really love food, it's hard not to be picky. Anyhoot, I'm curious about one thing. Did you break up the biscuits in the Peak version before you sealed up the bag the second time? Or was it even possible, with them being so "firm"? Going by the way they were put into the bag whole; it seems like they don't expect you to do that... but after your results, I'd think that it might take care of the hard biscuit/too much liquid issue. Either way, I believe that we'd go with the Mountain House brand for a couple of reasons. 1) You found it to be a pretty decent tasting option, especially if a bit of seasoning was added, which we've found to be true with most of their meals that we've tried and 2) given this current economy, there's no denying that it's a much more palatable price. Again, appreciate the review!
I started buying freeze dried meals for "just in case" recently. I think Mountain House is good for the price. I stock up when they go on sale, which is pretty often. They are usually about 40% off single meals and 50% off #10 cans. I like the taste of MH and would be happy to eat them pretty much any time. I also have some Peak Refuel and I appreciate that those are larger portions with more calories and they use less water. Sometimes when I'm feeling bougie, I'll buy some Stowaway Gourmet or Pinnacle Foods meals. Those are insanely good but damn, are they expensive! Thanks for the comparison!
