I’m pregnant and after watching this video this morning I could NOT stop thinking about banana bread! I ran out to the store and bought the 3 brownest bananas they had abs made your recipe. OMG YUMM!!! I might have just ate 3 slices 😬 Thanks so much!
I would LOVE it if you would do a potato video! I've never really given it much thought on what to do with which type. I mean, could I give it a Goog? Yeah, I could... but then I couldn't enjoy watching a video of you!
She actually did an Extreme Budget challenge video that was all centred around a huge bag of potatoes that she bought for I think $9.95 from memory, and so many meals during that week were potato based, so you could go back and find that. :)
@@alwayslearning9272 I've watched it... I mean more of a deeper explanation of what type of potato to use for different dishes. Like a russet is better for this, don't use a Yukon gold for that... kind of thing. You know, since she's in potato country and all! Haha :)
Anyone else ever watch these videos and then look at their freezer and pantry and try to ‘think like Christine’ and the Fun she would have in my freezer?! I feel like you could feed your family for easily a month on what I have in my pantry and freezer, but I can never think of the things you think of 🤦🏻♀️ if you’re ever in the KC Metro area, you could do a ‘cook out of a subscribers kitchen’ video, and I have the perfect subscriber for you!!!
I used to work afternoons so my husband had to fend for himself for dinner. I would ask him what he had for dinner and he would say "fridge food" which meant making a meal with leftovers. That always cracks me up!
@Mike Barooshian I've cooked and cleaned my way around 3 different families but when I got sick? No one would help me get diagnosed! I tried for 15 years then I gave up... and it took the past 5 years to get healthy now I'm trying to get treated on the 2nd items that have been diagnosed and then maybe I'll try again at living life as a married woman. I've still got a few things I want to do now that my kids are grown...
Got my Bosch and long skinny loaf pans because of you, and I LOVE THEM. Making the Panera baked potato soup tonight - again. We have enjoyed so many of your recipes!
Potato hack: after you chop up red and Yukon potatoes, drizzle them with some olive oil and seasoning in a microwave safe bowl, cover in plastic wrap, cut a small hole, and let it go! Stir it around and poke the potatoes and cook until they're done. So much easier than roasting if you're on a time crunch!
Peel the banana's 🍌 and place in Ziploc when putting into the freezer. No more gross messy thawed banana peeling required when making banana bread. Remove from freezer, dump into bowl, let thaw, combine and bake 🙂
Love how you just throw things together and come up with the most delicious looking meals! I’ve decided I need to be more bold when putting food together too, thanks!
You can get a juicy well done steak, you just need a sous vide so none of the juices cook out while it cooks since it is vacuum sealed, I usually eat steak medium, just wanted to point out that there is a misconception that well done means dried out automatically
You inspired us to make a soup today out of all the left overs we had. DELICIOUS! I had juices left from cooking some lean ribs in a dry rub. Started with that. Had left over chicken and some corn, added a can of black beans, onion, garlic, bay leaves, seasoning, gumbo file and left over red cabbage slaw we had a week ago on smoked rib sandwiches. Had been thinking of tossing it cuz it was kind of limp... It is amazing.
I love the Cook with Me/Freezer Clean Out videos 😍 We’re currently utilizing shelf cooking to use up as much of our inventory as we can before we move! I’ll definitely have to try out the Meatball Stroganoff. Edit:Those steaks looked perfect 👌🏻 🤤
@@thejoyfulbudget I did the pantry shelf challenge as well. I found it cost me way more money to replace the things we used because stuff wasn't on sale when we ran out. So I don't do the pantry challenge any more.
The series you stared watching on your phone called Deadwater Fell was part filmed in a little village local to me. Also Outlander is part filmed in my local town too. 😀🏴
@@lovinitall6639 Deadwater fell was part filmed in a little village called Dunlop and Outlander was part filmed in Dean Castle Country Park in Kilmarnock.
Another thing to do with those Rhodes rolls is to thaw them for about an hour, roll them out and top with pizza toppings or stuff them with ham and cheese, hamburger bbq, or you could have quartered those meatballs and stuffed with pizza sauce cheese and meatballs. I always have them in my freezer because they are so versatile.
I’ve been keeping bacon fat because of your channel!! I used to let it cook in aluminum foil and toss it...I know!! LOL. I love your recipes and I want to buy all the kitchen things you have. ❤️
If you peel your bananas and then freeze them in ziplock bags, the are much easier to deal with when you’re ready to blend them in smoothies or bake up in breads or muffins. 🥰
I wished I lived at Christine's house. Pasta for dinner, with a side of bread. And banana bread for dessert. Carb heaven. Can you ever really have enough?
Try mixing the cabbage, onion, and peppers and roasting it all together in the oven. Oil, Salt, and Pepper. I usually spread it out on 2 bakers half sheets and rotate. Super simple and easy clean up.
You can make spring rolls with cabbage. Mix with Oyster sauce, soy sauce, sesame oil. Bit of garlic/ginger/chilli and chicken mince can add prawns/shrimp but you can try whatever works for you. Can also make them with banana honey and cinnamon they are really good when you fry them.
When I have cabbage hanging around I'll usually make cabbage steaks. Curious if you've tried them? I literally season them like I would a steak and drizzle with oil and bake them. It's one of my favorites!
I did that before I went to the store yesterday...a fridge/freezer/pantry search. Found a head of red cabbage (looking weary), some frozen smoked sausage, potatoes in their bin, and some apples in the fruit bowl. Sheet pan dinner, or cabbage/sausage/apple braise w/mashed potatoes...no sure which, yet. I always scope out what's already here before I go shopping, saves money...oh yes
Making homemade vanilla is pretty easy- handful of vanilla beans scored, bottle of Costco vodka. It takes about 6 months to develop, but it’s incredible!
I discovered bottled marinades and sauces because I don't have the energy or the knowledge to make everything from scratch. It has been a game changer and probably cheaper than doing it from scratch. Thanks for the inspiration in your videos. I appreciate you showing that simple and cheap is ok.
Your videos are fantastic! Always enjoy watching. Our favorite way to eat cabbage: saute it with red onions, garlic, salt, pepper. Add shredded parmesan cheese at the end. So good!
Tonight I'm cleaning out the fridge for dinner. I have leftovers from the last 3 nights. And I'm going to make a simple scratch chocolate sheet cake, because cake is what I want to eat for dinner, lol.
FYI, you can make your own never ending vanilla for baking. Just pick a base (vodka or rum) and buy vanilla beans (they are a little pricey but you only need 3-4 and they last FOREVER). Use a knife to slice the vanilla beans once longways. Add everything to a glass jar. Now use it and continue to add either vodka or rum as needed. Easy and cheap. Now I will say that vodka is clear so if you are making white cakes, it wont tint the batter, but otherwise you can use either for the vanilla. Enjoy!
I make mashed red potatoes all the time, we leave the skins on so they're smashed, we add little milk and garlic butter and YUMMY! Sometimes we even add turkey bacon or onion, so tasty!
If you have a lot of cabbage and veg to use up and you like cole slaw, I recommend a RU-vid video called Depression Era Jew Salad. The only thing I'd change from that recipe is to omit the green peppers, they get too soft in the salad.
You should try tossing the uncooked noodles in the broth with the meatballs, once it starts to boil. Then, your noodles could cook in that broth and soak in some of the flavor. 🙂
I made your bell peppers that went to the freezer and I had the first 2 halves tonight for dinner and I drained and rinsed a can of sweet corn and black beans then mixed with a small can of rotel tomatoes and that was my side. All i can say is....Yum! I had a couple of chocolate chip cookies for dessert.:)
Okay so I really wanted the Always pan because, well, all the cool kids had one. And they came in pretty colors. And I didn’t already have one. I even chalked your less than stellar review up to your large family needing more, and my small one needs less. But then I took a walk through HomeGoods and found a Lodge enameled cast iron sauté pan for $39:99. I’m $100 less poor and it’s a pretty color and it’s a great size. Thanks for your honesty!
OMG your my hero! I made turkey bacon ranch meatballs with feta yesterday. I want to serve them as a stroganoff and you saved me tons of time. I'm going to use dill and ranch mix instead of Italian seasoning.
Onion hack: I was watching Tawra from Living on a Dime to Grow Rich and she said she hasn't cried in 25 years of onion cutting since she learned about storing onions in the fridge. Can't vouch for effectiveness but immediately thought about you. Hope it you try it and it works.
My garage freezer is completely full and I'm fairly certain what's on bottom may not be good. But you have given me the incentive to dig into it! I did want to make one suggestion; my family loves meatball stroganoff and I found a recipe using frozen meatballs and everything cooks in the IP. No need to cook pasta separately. It really is super easy and delicious and frees up my time. In case you wanted to try it in your IP. Thanks for the great videos. I've been a subscriber for awhile and really enjoy all your content and your fresh and funny personality; Keep it up!
I have some silicone muffin pans and love them. They are big like the jumbo and the muffins just pop out. I have a flower one, a heart one and a scalloped one.
We made your banana bread recipe this week. My kids ate it for dinner one night (lol, dont judge) and my hubbs who has been on keto since March 2020 decided to break and have a slice. He loved it too. Thanks for sharing!!
I love banana bread, but one day I had everything mixed and ready to go, went to get the bananas only to discover my family had pinched them and taken them to work and school in their lunch boxes. So I improvised, I grated 2 medium sized apples with the skin on, got a good handful of sultanas which I warmed in apple juice in the microwave for a little bit till they had plumped up then added the apples, sultanas, some of the apple juice till it was the right consistency then added a little bit of cinnamon. I cooked them for the same time and temp as the banana bread and waited till the family got home. The verdict was unanimous, EVEN BETTER THAN BANANA BREAD. Yea even my 14 year old son who hates dried fruit loved it. I hope you give it a try and see what you all think. By the way I have told many family and friends about this and those that have tried nearly all love it as much or more than the banana version. Happy new year ( if a little late ). Much love and respect from South East England. xxxxxx
So I just on a whim made the banana bread didn’t want to waste some really really ripe bananas I love banana bread, so I cut up two big slices one for me and one for my husband (he’s also gluten intolerant and sensitive to sugar I used King Arthur all purpose baking mix instead of regular flour) and he was like that’s a serving? I thought he was disappointed in the size. Come to find out he hates banana bread, which he love loves loves this banana bread and is posting to all his social media about this and also sharing the recipe with his mom! Thank you thank you thank you for the recipe it’s going to be written down in my recipe cards!
We too have two cabbages from our Misfit box this week! 😁 We are going to use one for goulash and one for your stir fry bowl since we are a family of 2.
Love these vids such great ideas to clean out your fridge/freezer because some stuff gets forgotten about 😬😬 and just an idea for new content.... you should try out a subscribers recipe 🤔🤔 like 1 everyday 🤷♀️ me and my family love Cheesy chicken fajita pasta 😍😍♥️♥️♥️🤤🤤🤤
@frugalfitmom Hilarious timing! I'm doing a freezer clean out too! Intrigued by the rice bowl recipe. However, I was wondering if you could post that too so I could screen shot it. If not it's fine...just gotta wait till my toddler gives me a chance to rewatch this and write down the recipe myself. P.s. love your hair and that color looks great on you! Thanks for putting a smile on my face today. ❤😊👍
Love your freezer and pantry clearout. You are watching some really good tv. Sobhan finneran is a fantastic actress. You have to watch Doc Martin it is hilarious and beautiful scenery set in cornwall. ❤️
I make a recipe similar to the meatballs stroganoff and it’s my daughter’s favorite too. We call it Bono’s and expos because I started making it when she was little and couldn’t pronounce meatballs or noodles
We just tried your cheesy potatoes last week, I had to make some adjustments because I didnt have all the ingredients, but they came out sooooo goood. I made some shredded chicken breast and we ate that 3 times without complaint. It's only my kid and I plus our dog so we always have food left over and have to eat leftovers. I either have to freeze some of it or we finish it in a few days. My kid looooved the potatoes she raved about them each time she ate them lol. I hope to make your bread and banana bread sometime soon. That rice bowl like something we want to try as well. Thanks for the good recipes Christine! Video Liked!
I love seeing how the mixer works; I have a Bosch compact on order. Will be using it for sourdough bread mainly, but it will be handy for any other baking I do for the two of us. Fun video!
