There are straight sided jars (no shoulders) that are said to be the best for this purpose. I’ve just made some chicken broth and am now trying it out.

We put soup in solo cups, freeze, cut off the cup and wrap in plastic wrap then put in freezer bags.

Great advice. This video got me thinking about looking up freezing in silicone bags. You know those ones with the zip tops. If that doesn't turn out, I'll freeze in the jars. Thanks.

Cracked jar of great soup. Is there a way to save the soup. Left jar in freezer until we can figure this out.

That's happened to me. I didn't save the soup because I was too concerned that tiny shards of glass might get into it.

The wide mouth jars actually say “freezer safe” on the box. I’m excited to try this. I’m going to make and freeze as you say and then use food saver to vacuum for longer life .

it shouldn't if you're allowing room at the top for the liquid to expand. I've done this for years w/no problems.

My jar broke as well. I took it out and left it on the counter for 5mins and it literally cracked in front of me. There was room in the jar

I like to thaw in the fridge for a day or two. If I need it within a few hours, I'll put the jar in some cold water until the outer edges start to melt and then it can slip out of the jar and into the pot to reheat!
