Hey! I chose to establish my LLC initially with my home address to receive tax deductions on certain expenses. Eventually once you grow and expand you can decide whether it’s smarter to keep your home address or not. I don’t really prefer operating your company with a virtual business address, but I believe there are specific stipulations that come with a virtual business address that may hinder you in some ways as compared to using a physical address. I noticed on your service offered you never mention FSC. That should be fought for on every load. Im a carrier transitioning into dispatching and as carrier when I invoice I charge FSC on top of the rate con rate on every invoice. The driver might see you have a rate for example for the line haul at $1.87 per mile but with fuel surcharge that rate is now $2.52 could be the difference of $100's on loads which will generate more profit for you and the carrier.
Hello Frank, Yes I also speak about FSC on another one of my videos I would have to fish through to find it, but FSC isn’t the only way to negotiate or invoice a load. In intermodal trucking for example it is more common, and even in contracted freight, but typically when we talk about spot market rates, the rate is negotiated as an “all in rate” so you can certainly include FCS in your negotiation strategy, but when the rate is presented on the invoice or load tender it will just list the all in rate. In independent freight dispatching your going to come across a lot of different freight brokers who operate and negotiate differently. When you advertise that your company “fights for the best rates” your essentially saying just that.
We have not completely established our accounting department yet, but it would consist of handling a trucking companies general book keeping, taxes, etc
Can I get paid through the factoring company’s referral program even if I recommend a carrier who is being dispatched by someone else other than myself or if the carrier does their own loads?
Just one question. If I am wanna work as an independent dispatcher, I need to work with or for a carrier. It indirectly makes me their employee. Then, what is being an independent disaptcher ? I am working with carrier from home or may be at their office.
I’m not sure how OTR and RTS or some of the many other factoring companies pay for their referral programs. I personally utilize the TBS Factoring referral program.
Hey Joe! Sure you can decide to start your freight dispatch business as a sole proprietor instead of an LLC. I always recommend the LLC because it protects your personal assets, whereas a sole prop leaves your personal assets vulnerable. I hope that answered your question! Have a blessed day!
