WARNING!!:

Failure to perform the job correctly can result in catastrophic engine or vehicle damage.
This alternator replacement will be very similar to all Freightliner with DD platform engines (Coronado Columbia century class Cascadia Western Star etc,..) DD13 DD15 DD16 OM 471 OM 472 OM 473
Always check the AMP Rate of the alternator when you get a new.
The common amp rate for Freightliner with DD platform engines is 160 amps but there are some alternator with 240 amps or more depending on the application.

Before changing alternator and/or batteries, check the fuses on the ddec6 fuse box.. high voltage most likely the lvd/sense fuse is corroded or blown mine was a 20amp. Low voltage is probably ecu bat, mine was a 5amp. This fuse box is on top of the driverside splash gaurd

My battery voltage jumps up over 16 sometimes when driving, then comes back down to 14.1 for a long time. Do you think my batteries are failing or is it the alternator?

@keepitreal3270 yes. There is a thin Wire running from the alternator directly to the batteries. It tells the alternator how much voltage is needed.. I guess mine had a break in the wire that would frequently lose connection.. I actually unplugged the wire from the alternator and this caused it to always charge at 14.1... later on I ran a new wire to the battery. Gimme a sec. I'll get you the link for the wire

great video as always bro, i have a question how do I know what AMP alternator I have on my 2019 Freightliner Cascadia and can you install 270 amp or greater alternator on Cascadia?

It will depend on the amount of batteries that you have on your truck If you have eight batteries the 270 will be good. If you have four batteries the 160 will be ok.

Hola Francisco, estoy pasando trabajo con la corriente en my cascadia 2012 con ISX15. Tensioner me estaba haciendo ruido entonces le cambio los dos tensioners, idler pulley y las dos correas. algunas veces cuando lo enciendo me da 13.8 volts despues de unos minutos baja a 12.4 volts y cuando pasa eso ya el A/C no me enfria porque no enciende el compresor. Me imagino que no enciende el A/C por baja corriente? Otra pregunta. En este video cuando estabas ensenando el camion con el alternador viejo no tenia el puente de los cables y despues cuando lo cambiastes agregastes el puente. Es mejor tener el puente? Crees que eso sera mi problema con la corriente?

I do have a problem with the voltage it’s going up And down between 13.5 up to 14.0 and I do have DD15 cascadia , what should I do ?

Maybe the alternator voltage regulator is not working properly, you should replace the alternator.

Yes, you can get a wire form the remote sense to the positive of the alternator.

Can u make a video about how to fix a steering wheel that has too much play? Over the 2 inch limit set by dot when the engine is off. I can move my steering wheel 5 inchs. I think it might be the steering gear box bc everything else feels tight but I don't know what to look for exactly.

Check the steering column and the joint, it is possible that they have play.

Well, it is faster and easier but sometimes they don't have the pulley.

Good afternoon I have a question for you..... I have a freightliner 2010 dd15 I put new batteries and new alternator and I'm getting low voltage. I just changed the oem harness I'm not sure if that has anything to do with it? Thank you and I hope you respond

Probably something wasn't connected properly or it is the wrong harness but before those conclusions.... what was the why you replaced the harness?

If you have more than 500k miles, you're running on borrowed time. $969 if it happens on the road and they smile when they thank you. It happened to me last week. Mine completely seized, melted the belt.

There is a fuse call remote sense in the firewall or the mud cover driver side.

i found it it was tiny wire that goes from an alternator to starter the wire was burn I had to exchange i cut it in half and put in the new one....
