Detroit Diesel says that the filter is no longer needed/beneficial. HDEP engines manufactured after the following Serial numbers do not even have a coolant filter housing S/N 472906s0326388 (DD15AT) 471927s0326736 (DD13) 472909s0327137 (DD15TC) and 473908s0327187 (DD16). Refer to 15 TS-10. Take that filter out and toss it in the garbage, save yourself a couple bucks.
That filter replacement is quite expensive! and now I found that the filter is no longer needed! So on the next change I just toss it out & put the cap back on without the filter! Noice!
Why would Freightliner design and put this on the truck and then recommend that you take the filter out and leave it out, do you have a link to a Freightliner Website where they actually make that statement ?

@@canampilot9248 I took mine out and left it out as well. I was told by a Freightliner tech that this is an unnecessary part and a waste of time and money to replace.
