The M916 was really hurt by the fact that for the first six months of the game's release, it's steering eas bugged making it completely undriveable.

Ya I remember that bug. That’s a very good point. I think that is another attributing factor that put a bad taste in the player base mouths

I agree with you on the wasted space of the winch I believe both of the Derry trucks have the same issue. And you talk about a loaded trailer helping in balance I have always thought the same thing about the voron d. Great reviews you do an excellent job man. Stay upright.

Thank you for those kind words man! It’s odd that you can acquire balance from a trailer, but when it happens; you’re like “aha, I see!” Glad you enjoyed the video! Stay upright as well !

Just discovered your channel while searching for takes on this truck. First off, fantastic execution. It’s clear that you spent the proper time to review the truck fairly. Second, your point about level req really hit home as I’d never used it during my first trip through the vanilla game. I recently started a NG+ and chose to retain my Lvl 30 rank. Bought the truck in Black River and can confirm it’s extremely useful in the early stages of a save.

Jeremy, Hey thank you! I’m glad you enjoyed the video and found it had useful information. It definitely is a lot of work to review these properly so I appreciate that you noticed that. So glad that NG+ came out. Now players can use trucks they never used before and utilize them wherever. I bet it crushes Black River:)

somepoint when ur doing scout truck tier list. take notice that chevy apache has hidden gimmick, you can drive it at any ice area without falling trough the ice. and it floats on water. tested that on kola region.

Damn, that was a ruff one. You know what though you are absolutely right, leave it to the devs to completely f up an iconic American Truck. You mentioned that it cannot properly attach a fuel semi trailer, well I can tell you that when I used to drive trucks for Uncle Sam, in my Unit the M916 A1 did exactly that. We used it to haul a semi fuel carrier. So in conclusion I am certain that you should apply for a gig at Sabre because you have more knowledge about these trucks than they do. ✌️
@NProvince
@NProvince 2 года назад
Well first Thank you for your service! That’s awesome that you got to drive that truck in real life! Ya know that is one of the better compliments I have gotten, thank you! I really don’t think Sabre would employ me, but I would welcome it for sure. This review definitely was a lil harsh, but I don’t think it was the trucks fault, it has a lot Of greatness in it. I just really felt they did it a disservice like you mentioned.

@@NProvince Considering just the base game, maybe the cover should of been one of the KOLOB's or the Derry 45? The cover vehicle on MudRunner was that huge Russian 8X8 missile launcher truck, which was one of the hardest trucks in the game to get as picking it from the start used up all 5 out of 5 stars (MudRunner had kinda a points system so you could say pick multiple lower powered truck, or 1 really good truck (4 stars) and 1 crapper, or in the case of the cover truck being able to pick only that truck for a map). And as far as finding it in-game (you could use in-game trucks to help expand your fleet), only 1 or 2 maps even had this truck on it. So while no truck is necessarily had to get in MudRunner, since picking this one meant no room for support vehicles, you could say this one was the hardest to get. So if we apply that to SnowRunner that the cover truck is one of the hardest to get. Then it would be the KOLOB on the Russian side and maybe Derry 45 on American covers.

While swapping out the useless utility box for a loader would have been great, that is what the SD is for. The SD stands for "Severe Duty" and is the chassis style that Freightliner used to mount extra equipment such as the loader cranes. We have a number of log loader Freightliner trucks, and they are all the SD models. The nickname for a Freightliner truck is Freight Shaker. Not because they ride rough, as most would claim, but because it just fits phonetically, heh.

The conclusion is the same one I came to the hard way with the P16. I had seen and heard all the good stuff about it, so when I first went to Drummond, I made a special trip just to unlock it. I proceeded to try and have it do everything under the sun. Unsurprisingly, it failed at a lot of it. I ended up using other trucks instead, and lamented on Reddit the P16's underperformance. Somebody pointed out that the P16 was purpose-built to haul heavy logs in muddy terrain, and that asking it to do other things wasn't really the point. After that, I started using it just for log work. Lo and behold, it started performing quite well. I still think it's a little underpowered (but the bigger part of the issue is Snowrunner's total lack of a torque mechanic), but remembering that some trucks are only designed to do one thing is a very helpful grounding tool.
@NProvince
@NProvince 2 года назад
Very good points made in this comment. I think acepting what a vehicle is rather than throwing it away is a better move. Like you explained it grounds you. The issue is sadly that everyone wants a "do it all" truck that is the best leading to most people playing a select few trucks. In truth, when I start leaning toward that mindset, I have to actively make myself put effort into trucks that fall into a certain niche. Its really nice to use them as so. Great comment!

Great review! It’s annoying it can’t have the fuel semi trailer since this sounds like it would be one of the perfect trucks to operate as a mobile fuel base far out of nowhere. It would fix 2 of its cons already: always a trailer attached on the saddle so it’s more stable, and a lot of fuel as cargo so it’s fuel consumption and tank size aren’t that important.
@NProvince
@NProvince 2 года назад
Thank you! I agree it would be nice to be able to haul that. It would open it up to be used as capable fuel support in quite a few places.

The lack of tire selection is kind of unnecessary. I edited the files to allow every truck to have access to every type of tire, but left the max size stock. This greatly improves the game without breaking it in my opinion. Some sizes are just way too small, but that's part of the fun.
@NProvince
@NProvince Год назад
I think there should be more tire options for American Trucks which is something I did request on the survey Saber put out
@justinlynch3
@justinlynch3 2 года назад
Man I wish Saber would fix the Gooseneck trailer. I would love to use a 4 slot slot trailer on a 4 slot mission (and this game has lots of 4 slot missions) but the hit boxes on that thing is just awful. As for the truck this is another I sadly don't use much, I think I'm just not fond of the freightliners in this game to be honest. Out of my 3 saddle low truck options, I have to say the Navistar and Derry 31 comes long before this truck.
@NProvince
@NProvince 2 года назад
Ya the gooseneck does have potential if fixed. Wish it had better clearances. That’s fair. I feel people have to actually go outta there way to have an experience with them and by the time you get them other trucks are in your fleet that can outperform them. A good challenge though :)
@NProvince
@NProvince 2 года назад
Very valid points! Ya I agree for sure
@justinlynch3
@justinlynch3 2 года назад
@@NProvince I don't think it's necessarily a clearance issue. The Step-Deck has low clearance but with the way it's programmed it often tends to act like a sled in that it slides over humps, rocks, etc. The Gooseneck does not share the Step-Deck sled like properties. The Gooseneck, especially in the rear is constantly getting caught, hooked on stuff, digging in, etc. The hit boxes are probably realistic for the shape of the trailer. But it makes for terrible use in game. It'd be better if they just programmed it with a flat bottom or something so it slides easier.
@vladvulcan
@vladvulcan 2 года назад
To add issues, I wanna point out that a gooseneck semi doesn't have any rear or side rear winching points, making it completely unusable.

That seems frustrating.. I think that they are just trying to push content on time while balancing other products.
