French Female Servants - Domestic Life In The 19th Century 

Here's a documentary that takes you back in time to 19th century France. We discussed domestic service life for our first case; the female serial killer Hélène Jégado - she was an illiterate maid, working as a servant for wealthy families for over 30 years!
In this documentary video we want to show you drawings (and photos) of what these servants were expected to do as part of their everyday job roles. In the later part of the 1800s photography was available, and people were thoughtful enough to capture shots of real, working servants!
