Thank you so much for this great lesson! Practice makes perfect. Learning the reflexive verbs in context is the best way to remember how to use them correctly. Merci Alexa !
I appreciate this, Alexa, but I wish you would have explained how to determine if you use the reflexive verb form or not. For example, obviously if you are washing yourself, you're doing it to yourself, so you'd use the reflexive form. And if you're washing the dishes, you're doing the washing to something else, so you'd not use the reflexive form. But it's not always obvious whether to use the reflexive form. (One that comes to mind is "to hurry" does use the reflexive form but "to dance" does not. This makes little sense to me and no-one who does these tutorial videos on RU-vid has ever included how, exactly, to determine whether to use the reflexive form or not. Anyway, I appreciate you and you've taught me a lot!)
Thank you so much for the video but can someone please explain me the logic behind writing these phrases "Je te propose" (I propose you) or "Je t'invite"(I invite you) and "Tu me manques tellement" (I miss you so much). Can't they be written in any other way. It appears quite confusing to me. I have my exam coming up in like 3 days. I would really appreciate and be thankful to you if you could kindly help me understand this concept. Merci beaucoup!
Hi Alexa. thanks for the great lesson. but I need to know what are all the verbs that take reflexive pronoun? can we know them please? or when do we use reflexive pronoun? for example: we say Je mange, why don't we say: Je me mange? that's a bit confusing to me. thank you so much for clarifying this.
Good morning alexa You are Really usefull to me I followed you since2018 Thank you for always. I wanted to ask that I understood your concept how to use but I don't know they are many words how can we say that is the reflexive verbs?
So if the subject is the direct object then why is "I am washing my hair" (Je me lave les cheveux) reflexive in french? Why not "Je lave mes cheveux"? "Je me lave les cheveux" translates in my mind " I am washing myself the hair". And how would "I am having my hair washed by my sister" be translated? Reverso (which is not always correct) has it as "Je me fais laver les cheveux par ma sœur". This whole reflexive thing has me thoroughly confused!! Can anyone help?
Thanks Alexa, this was one of the subjects I wanted to learn! One question about the song "Je te pardonne": which grammatical class does "TE" belong to? Because it doesn't count as a reflexive verb, right?
Yes, both on and nous mean we however on can have many other meanings such as you, one or even they. However, in common day-to-day french, native french speakers would use on instead of nous. Hope that clears it up for you !!
Hi Alexa! I really appreciate your lessons. Merci beaucoup! (Was that correct?) Quick question on this lesson, s'il vous plait. When is the 'on se' used versus the 'nous nous' used, since they both mean 'we .... ourselves?' Hope you have time to answer. Thanks again for making learning French not so intimidating!
