Pilots get the glory...and they are truly awesome. Personally, I get a kick out of watching the deck boss and crew. Every signal, wave, look, etc., has a meaning. It's a well choreographed dance, and very impressive if you can witness it live!
Love the French, let's not forget we wouldn't even have the United States if not for the French's help in the Revolutionary War, as an American i will always have a special place in my heart for my French brothers and sisters.
My dad worked for the dod as a physicist for 34 years. He was flown to a few meetings on aircraft carriers during the Cold War. When we would fly somewhere on vacation he would always ask the pilots if the served and what branch. If they said Navy he would tell me we were flying with the best.
delta wing is great for lift with some AOA. Only issue is it reduces speed when turning at higher speeds because it's a huge slab, but for take-off, some drag is an affordable sacrifice for lift.
I bet they were trippin on their first landing and launch! You see the pilot lean his head all the way back when the shooter gave the signal to fire the catapult! So awesome to see our ally's practicing with the Navy on our Carriers! Will give them more options for refueling and weapon load outs in times either Country calls for assistance ruling the skies! Awesome video! Oh and the Rafale, Has always been one of my favorite fighter jets! The design, And maneuverability is outstanding! Love the delta wing and canard design, Along with 2 powerful turbines, I'd Love to go on a spectator flight in a Rafale, over an F-18! Honestly the only Jet I'd really choose a flight experience in, Over the Raphale, Is my absolute favorite of all time, The F-14D Tomcat! Anyway, Thanks for sharing this video! Amazing to see 2 countries coming together to fly sorties off of our amazing Aircraft Carriers! Please share more videos if you have them! Would be awesome to see a flyby with the French and Americans in formation together in a high speed pass of the USS George Washington, Or any other Carrier for that matter!

All the jet-training for French pilots is done in the USA (NAS Meridian Mi) with US Navy T-45C GosHawk. So from the very beginning French pilots are close to US procedures and are able to speak English !
Its cool i got to witness these Rafales back in 2018, they had landed and stayed in Naval Air Station Oceana, I live just north of it, these were a very good sight to see
@@mrcroob8563 yep. After the f-22 won a 1v8 against a squadron of rafales. In the time the Rafale squadron won, the f-22 was forced to have an external tank, giving up its radar and maneuverability advantage. In a fair fight f-22 wipes the floor with any bird in the air
@@bernadmanny Don't stop outside, the "Charles de Gaulle" is a nuclear-powered CATOBAR, and it's the only country other than the United States to have one. Conversely, the Russian aircraft carrier (larger than the French) is practically incapable of taking off planes (the last time they used it, they lost one plane and had to transfer the others to earth given the problems of the " aircraft carrier").
Wow the French are getting in there proficiency of landing on US carriers, and we're working in the Pacific with the Japanese learn landing on our carriers as well, we got to keep up this proficiency train train cuz the enemy is coming
So most are purposeful. Any flair is some exaggeration of the gesture rather than the gesture being useless. After the spin up hand signal, where he points around, he is going through a final check of things on the deck related to link ups and other individuals involved in the catapult shot to make sure everything is ready. People must be clear, the catapult officer must be ready, etc etc.
I prefer to see the jet fighters landing vertically coz they look more elegant and prestigious and cutting edge technology. I once watched it on video on aircraft carrier.
