I’m an apple and find that the high waisted shirts and dresses make me look pregnant. My best looks are dolman, and a longer body skimming, but not form-fitting top. Pants are a challenge because they are always baggy if they fit around the waist. I used to wear Yelete jeggings, but they changed the material (barely stretches) and cut to be more pear friendly now. I’m on the hunt for another apple friendly brand of pants with super stretch.

Fellow apple shape and pants are difficult to buy because the porportions through hip and thigh are too big. I look for pants with a lot of stretch so I can go down a size but still fit waist.

I know this is a year late but I've discovered French Connection emiko joggers , they are 80 GBP but currently half price , they come on navy , pink , yellow and blue ...I wear the navy ones in court and I'm always asked where I got them ...my waist is bigger than hips , but they are so flattering 😊

If you by high waisted dresses mean empire waist, then I completely agree with you! I am definitely Apple shaped, and every time I try on dresses that cut off just under the bust, I don’t look good. And my husband agrees with me, so it’s not just me being self critical.

I'm the same I cannot find a pair of high-waisted trousers or jeans to fit as to find a pair that can do up on my 35inch waist and fit neatly on my 37inch hips is impossible! Low rise is much easier to find a fit and they are much more comfy to wear.

Thank you for making this! I absolutely hate having a short thick waist. I have a hard time wearing the current fashions that draw attention to this. I usually wear shirts that end at least halfway down the hips and never wear a belt. I loved the pieces you showed! You ate adorable, I love watching you!!

Really gotta reach to address, and dress, this shape. Almost have to be a magician in a room of mirrors to make it all work, and feel confident, especially when the outerwear (blazer,jacket, shawl)comes off. Diet and fitness are key here, particularly in terms of general health for the apple girls and boys amongst us ❤

Wish there was more info on small bust apple bodies. Most clothing, especially the dresses, seem to look much better with larger bust as it helps define the waist. But I never hear about dressing the square-ish apples :(

Agreed on the empire waist - never understood that recommendation - makes stomach look even bigger because it balloons out under the bust. Skimming (not tight) sheath, yes - empire nopety, nope, nope nope.

I am a plus size apple shape and I agree with everything you said about dressing for the apple shape. However for plus size apples empire line can exaggerate the tummy area in an unflattering way so beware!

Most high rise jeans need to be avoided for big tummy. You should wear mid rise to hold everything in at the waist

I’ve noticed that a square neckline is the best neckline for apples, it seem to create balance by adding some sharpness to torso so the roundness in midsection isn’t overpowering.

I always thought I was an hourglass shape as I have a waist but my tummy is a bit protruding in the front. The pictures you showed of the famous apple bodies have me wondering if I'm an apple instead. Hmmmm.

Wonderful advice. I’m a rectangle shape when slim but as I’ve gained a few extra pounds in my 50’s the weight all goes to my mid-section rather than my thighs as it did when I was younger. I’m not busty but gain in my arms and belly so perhaps not a traditional apple. This redistribution is so unfortunate and I’m finding that the fashions I love can’t be worn at my current weight. Now I’m wondering if the belly will remain after weight loss or if I’ll return to the rectangle shape. I’m on track with healthy eating so we will see… Nevertheless these tips will help me adjust if necessary. Thank you!

I am experiencing the same issues! I was alway a Pair or Triangle but after menopause and some health issues my waist has grown. It has been hard trying to find any fashion advice for these body changes. Good luck with the healthy changes!

I just have a question to other ppl in his thread… am I the only one who finds empire waist dresses unflattering? Every time I try them, I find that it feels very wrong, and my husband says it too. I’m more of a rectangle, but I find that a lot of apple-shape tips work well on me. I was always an hourglass until my late 40s when my waist just thickened and incredible 5 inches over 5 years, without a weight change. It’s much more difficult to find a good fit in clothes now.

Hi, I'm in my 40s as well and the same happened to me. Hormornal? I love my "newish" body, but wish my breast were a little smaller like in my 20s and 30s. I was always an hourglass like you, but skinny and find myself feeling more like a rectangle now. I have long legs and a short torso and broad shoulders its always the hardest to find the right pair of jeans that's usually the biggest struggle, but I absolutely love dresses. V-neck everything is my best friend.

Mine did that when I developed a soy allergy. It’s in all American food now. It’s taken 2 years of hard work, home baking and ruthlessly not even soy lecithin in the products, to finally get half of it come off. I can’t wait for the rest to go! It really sped up when I took my oldest son’s recommendation and take 50mg of Tudca with dinner (do not take more than that).

I have been a rectangle shape until I got older. I haven't gained weight, but when you lose elasticity of your skin, it sags down to the top of the hip. Voila! Now an apple. Thank you.

I have an apple shape and am also short waisted so high rise jeans and pants don't work. On me the mid rise works like a high rise. We are all different. An empire dress is amazing as camouflage. Thanks for the tips.

My sister and mom were talking about how beautiful French women always appear and how they dress with a subtle flair never overly sexual like Americans sometimes, it can be so shocking :( That is why we are so glad you discuss what we need to learn the French women’s secrets! Since I am learning so many good things from your content I just wondered if it’s ok to ask what you mean by referring to Apple shapes as “ wrong” ? I think I understand what you mean, it is more attractive to be pear shaped or have a nice round bottom and smaller breasts, it just makes me sad to hear you say it .. because I’m Apple shaped and grateful to God for health and everything but a little embarrassed that men don’t find it attractive.
