Tis what I thought a long time ago when we were being taught this song in primary school. The meaning of this song is "Brother James brother James are you sleeping are you sleeping morning bells are ringing morning bells are ringing ding ding dong ding ding dong. This of course makes my whole day thank you very much!
i learned this song in school in canada when i was like 3, and i retained no french except this from when i was there lol. its been years and i still remember the french version clearly.
+ Jesse I to was told the song had to do with someone amed John but as I got older and started learning French I found out Jaques means James or Jacob but most probably James as there is an s at the end of the name.
@@DallasStorm43 Jack, which is another way of saying Jake, or Jacob, which is Hebrew, and means James in Greek. I've studied this name out for many years and my stepson ended the search when he googled it and came up with James, Jacques means James. Just a test of you're mental capacity, does the name Jack have an s on the end?
I have been trying to find this song for months. I was just doing my own thing when the toon for this song came into my head. I hadn’t sang it in years and i remembered it being one of my favorites when i was little. I set out trying to find it, but i didn’t know its name or anything. Just the toon. Yesterday i saw the name of the song without relizing it i played the song and I immediately reconginzed the toon. ❤
Me. Someone did a cover of this song on RU-vid so I mentioned NMIXX in the comments and the guy got offended. SMH Anyway this song (Young Dumb Stupid) is awesome!
Coming across a mattress store in Montréal aptly named «Dormez-vous» where I visited to celebrate my 36th birthday this year definitely rang some bells in my head (no pun intended)!
@@jimbarnard12345 I'm pretty sure you can figure it out. Certain Agencies central to intelligence love classic nursery rhymes. Pass the artichoke please, Brother Jack .
I like that they sampled Frère Jacques growing up I used to sing Frère Jacques in my choir class since in Canada our second language is French so when I heard this song I start to sing Frère Jacques during the sampled part I think it’s really fun and for me nostalgic
Omg this unlocked a memory of my childhood that i never knew i had! I didn't know there was even a French version! I just found out there was because of the Robin Hood Movie!
Je ne parle pas Français, but, I always wonder, why do they say "dormez vous?" If Brother John is a brother, and a peer in the monastery is addressing him, why is he using the formal you instead of the familiar?
I remember from New Hampshire my grandma doing this w fingers - but had 1/2 in English absolutely say “ how are you today sir? Very well I thank you- After I don’t know is either - runaway (or hide) Or something along the line” Of course they were also learn English then too. And was popular to speak English as thib were in usA. Then -
Please tell me more about this song. My mom used to sing it to me when I was little. I used to sing it to my voice when they were little. What is the name of the song in the words please
Young, dumb, stupid, young, dumb, stupid But who cares? (Young, dumb, stupid) but who cares? (Young, dumb, stupid) 우린 겁이 없어 (but who cares?), do whatever we want (but who cares?) 딩당동 (우린 겁이 없어), 딩당동 (do whatever we want)
I used to sing this at school in music years ago as a boy and that’s good times and I listened to this on ST: TNG episode 5 Disaster when the turbo lift started falling and the kids started climbing the ladder and I heard them sing this song before the song they thought of when they made it the top but the power of the ship still out when the quantum filament started hitting the ship.
The lyrics for the whole song is wrong. Here are the actual lyrics: Young, dumb, stupid, young, dumb, stupid But who cares? (Young, dumb, stupid) but who cares? (Young, dumb, stupid) 우린 겁이 없어 (but who cares?), do whatever we want (but who cares?) 딩당동 (우린 겁이 없어), 딩당동 (do whatever we want)
Also is for whom the bell tolls. Remember 4 plus years of this Waiting for one day/ when church bells rings and then is w dod- as ike say on radio- Shreek A js happening around me- Hype is cathoic angels as well is persecuted lot of priests and sisters
This song in English: Are you sleeping, Are you sleeping, Brother John, Brother John, Morning bells are ringing, Morning bells are ringing, Ding dang dong, Ding dang dong.
Actually this song got the Saint Agnes and the Burning Train treatment (which is a funny song by the way aka Lee Kwang Soo's theme) so the lyrics have been updated for a more modern generation: Young, dumb, stupid, young, dumb, stupid But who cares? (Young, dumb, stupid) but who cares? (Young, dumb, stupid) 우린 겁이 없어 (but who cares?), do whatever we want (but who cares?) 딩당동 (우린 겁이 없어), 딩당동 (do whatever we want)
+ August Black We were taught it was Brother John in school but like so many other things my teachers got wrong it means James not John think about it when you look at the difference in the spelling.
Brother Jacques, Brother Jacques Do you sleep? are you sleeping? ring the matins ring the matins ding dong dong ding ding dong is the translation of the song
Actually the translation is off. It is really: Young, dumb, stupid, young, dumb, stupid But who cares? (Young, dumb, stupid) but who cares? (Young, dumb, stupid) 우린 겁이 없어 (but who cares?), do whatever we want (but who cares?) 딩당동 (우린 겁이 없어), 딩당동 (do whatever we want)
