@@Alternatives_Universum Taiwanese, Chinese makes no difference we all come from the same roots and we speak the same language. I just don't agree with China is doing in the present.

The only thing I don't like about the show is how desperate it wants to relate Huang with Taiwanese. The Huang is nothing like a Taiwanese family expect for their family name.
That’s the premise within a premise. Louis and Jessica want to feel Taiwanese because to an extent, they were Taiwanese in their childhood. But Eddie Huang says that Louis “full-on bought into the American dream” and have spent years in the US. Spending such a long amount of time is bound to make you acculturate to American culture. Ethnically, they’re still Taiwanese. That’s why they have a reason and point of reference to feel “Taiwanese”. But they’ve spent so much time in DC/Florida of all places that they’ve partly adjusted to the US at the expense of their home culture. So, it would make sense their “Taiwan-ness” is lacking
