At the cooking part the channa dal and other seeds should have been roasted separately and lightly to just make them brown in low fire. She has burned them to ashes.

Cooking outdoors is best for all that messy splutter that could mess any indoor kitchen! With that amount of chillies, I guess you have your ass blast outdoors too!!!
I love the recipes, most vegetarian meals, BUT, why so much hot peppers???!! Unless the peppers are not really spicy. I would have tummy problems if I ate so much hot peppers!! Build tolerance perhaps?
