looks awesome! Been trying to size up my fire eels and morays. Any recommendations on feeding? Is it better to isolate them when younger, to reduce stress?
Hi...I've never had to do anything special to the water...other than dechlorinators (Prime) when changing water...be sure to keep up on water changes...
Beautiful eels, I’ve got mine but they still didn’t started eating. I have them with loaches and cichlids. When I feed cichlids reach food first, murray never grabs food. Any tips? Should I isolate them? I have exact size as your small one.
@@Kuso_Nittaku Wow that is extraordinary. But then again, there is that German aquarium that spent months acclimating cichlids to saltwater, and now have a reef tank with African Cichlids in it, so I really shouldn’t be too surprised for it to be the other way around.
@@Kuso_Nittaku I know right. See the video link below. Apparently it can only be done with African Cichlids, as these freshwater fish used to live in saltwater thousands of years ago, but when Lake Malawi and Lake Victoria became cut off from the sea by seismic upheaval, the lakes slowly turned freshwater over thousands of years. These freshwater fish never fully lost the ability to survive in saltwater, which is why they can very very slowly be acclimated to saltwater over many weeks or months. But I am just as impressed to learn that moray eels are found naturally in freshwater. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-d_zK7UekAME.htmlsi=JOwBZGQR3yJE17jD
Hey dude, do you put salt in there to make it brackish? I had one in freshwater and it died, but was wondering if it was the water salinity or something else
Hi...thanks for the question....I do not put any salt in with these...they are true freshwater eels...there is another one that is brackish that needs salt but tiger morays don't...I have had these for years...also in case you was wondering about the gobys these particular ones don't need salt either but other varieties do....thank you!
@@mikescichlids Very interesting. Ok, that's good to know. Maybe I'll see if my LFS can get this variety. I've never seen this one ever before. It's usually the grey ones that we have here.
@@shipwreck8847 exactly... those gray ones are the brackish eels...they are also available on eBay and other online sellers...sometimes a little pricey but worth it in my opinion..good luck!!.thanks!
