Whether you call them friction savers, a false crotch, or a cambium saver, they all do the same thing - protect trees from potential wounds created by your climbing line, which also greatly extends the life of your rope. There are many different types, but there is no question about their increasing popularity in both professional and recreational tree climbing. In this video, Nick looks at friction savers, discusses the differences and specialist models available, and shows us what he calls the "Mack Daddy" of all friction savers. I’m pretty sure the pulley saver was not the first friction saver with a pulley, I think that would have to be the rope guide by ART. The rope guide was in production and I think already on Gen 2 when I was climbing and working in Germany. The pulley saver was around but only as prototype amongst Beddis and co. The pulley saver is an amazing friction saver, once you climb on a pulley it’s hard to go back

I received my shipment today. Fed-X didn't follow shipment instructions an left 600$ worth of gear at my mail box that had green tape on the box saying YOUR STUFF IS HERE. Good thing I checked the mail and found it before some illiterate saw FREE STUFF IS HERE.😖

We can't be sure what's available locally in the UK, but we can ship (almost) anything internationally!

I'm new to all this, so this question might not make sense somehow... Would vinyl tubing work as a friction saver? In particular I want to throw a rope over the top of my roof to clear off pine needles that collect on the roof, but the rope would rub against the shingles on the ridge of the roof. Would vinyl tubing work just as well to reduce the friction of the rope over the roof ridge?

Will a climbing rope ( meant for rock climbing) be frayed when moving back and forth over a tree branch?
@kennethsizer6217
@kennethsizer6217 3 года назад
The relative damage will depend on the type of rope and the type of tree. But either way, working without a cambium saver is going to damage the rope, the tree, or both. Good ropes are expensive and good climbing trees take decades to replace, so a simple Weaver leather cambium saver is a wise investment.

You from the Burgh? I am in Washington County and just started recreational tree climbing. I got bit by the climbing bug bad!!! My friend told me I can make some good money cutting n cleaning trees out lol however I already work in every aspect of home building from pouring the footers to installing the roof systems and EVERYTHING in between. I am climbing to get away from work lol. Take care

@@exposingbullies260 I feel as though you would need to do a lot of climbing from one anchor to make it worth setting up
