As it is with most US cities now, the highway running right through the city kinda f**ks everything up. It's noisy and unsightly and I'm sure they had to destroy lots of neighborhoods (probably primarily poorer, black neighborhoods which is usually the case). I'd be so curious to see what this area used to look like pre-highway. I bet it was full of older stately buildings.
