What’s happening in this Friday Night Lights movie clip?

"I WANT YOU TO HIT EVERYTHING THAT MOVE IF THE REF GET IN YOUR WAY YOU HIT HIM!!!!!" Hell yeah!!! A coach can give a fiery speech but it hits different when your teammate gets riled up. Especially in this case Preacher was always the quiet reserved one.

This scene is so important to me. Even though the Carter Cowboys came out looking like NFL prospects ready to score a hundred points against them, when they're in the locker room, the helmets are off, the personas are dropped, they revert back to what they were before they strap on those pads: students. No matter how good those kids were, people seem to forget that these guys are just kids. Very well fed and gigantic kids but kids nonetheless lol

@@sergeontheloose that is big school ball for you. Plenty of really HUGE dudes in Texas HS ball. PLENTY that look like they can start NFL. Look up Desoto hs school Byron Washington. It's more typical to have LARGE guys than these lil 5'8" 165 pound guys that dominate 3A and smaller. Byron is 6'8" 380 pounds of Offensive Lineman. He would be the biggest player in the NFL. He is a Junior.

@@SuperChuckRaney He is just big and fat - doesn't mean he has the muscle or core strength to start at the NFL level. These are just kids no matter how big they may seem - there is a huge difference when you are 16-18 and when you are 22-24 about to start an NFL career.

@@SuperChuckRaney I just looked him up. Are you sure the guy is a legitimate High Schooler? He looks like they shaved 2-3 years off his real birth certificate. And his technique is awful - he gets away with a lot of holds and blocks in the back which will be severely penalized at NFL level.

The state championship is a bi product of Hollywood creativeness. It was actually the state semi at the university of Texas the game was alot closer it was raining and there was bad blood between the two schools but all the dirty play cheep shots and late hits didn't happen.

28 offered "college scholarships". Not all were D-1 schools. 4 went on the play in the NFL. Migh have been more had 6 student-athletes not been convicted of armed robbery and receive prison terms of between 13 and 25 years.

When I was playing football several years ago, I had never come across a team that took cheap shots like "Dirty" Dallas Carter. If I had though, then I wouldn't mind getting kicked out of the game for busting an offending player upside his head or in his face with my football helmet. Especially if he did something to critically injure or even paralyze one of my teammates.

So many years ago, when excessive celebrating was flagged in the NFL and certain ethnic groups ignored the rule and weren’t flagged, my dearly departed mom said “they never follow the rules”. Young men need structure and discipline. Otherwise they act up like that opposing team. Permian players (black and white) had discipline and played the game right. If they ignore the rules as teens, prison or an early death awaits them.

The real game didn't go down like this, for starters the game between Permian and Carter was the state semi-finals, Carter crushed Permian and went on to beat Converse Judson in the title game but Carter had that title stripped from them 2 years later because the Texas UIL ruled that a few of Carter's players were academically ineligible and shouldn't have been able to play.

Jessie Armstead batted down a td pass from Winchell to Chavez on 3rd down and then on 4th down Evans batted down another pass for Brown and time ran out... Pouring down rain and the game was a defensive battle... My cousin was on the Midland Lee squad that beat Permian.
