Friday the 13th It is indeed. No one probably knew it at the time but during a few months in the late summer and fall of 1979 a certain film team made horror movie history. I love the original (and only) Friday the 13th. All the others were ‘Jason’- movies and number 5 was a ‘Jason lookalike’- movie.

I believe it. I listen to movie scores all day while working. This one, The Fog, Prince of Darkness, many of the Halloweens (most commonly H3), The Thing, Re-Animator, CHUD, Phantasm, From Beyond.....

Advance to minute 32 and close your eyes. It will take you to the scene that everybody likes and waits for every time one watches the movie. SUPERB! MAGICAL! Definitely best part of the movie. YES!!! THANKS for bringing this soundtrack

JSU76 It's a reissue by Waxwork Records from a couple of years ago. I'd say this variant is about $70 now. They've done reissues of all the Friday the 13th soundtracks up through The Final Chapter

This movie scared the hell outta me as a 12 year old child! I remember watching it on The Movie Channel Summer of 1981. Alone in the house, no doubt. Betsy Palmer, who played Jason's mom, Mrs. Voorhees, claimed she didn't really want the part, but said she needed the money to buy herself a car. So glad she took the part, cause I doubt anyone else could have done as well as she did!! ♥️ 🔪

Halloween score is amazing awesome ! But the Friday the 13th score is iconic . You cant think of Halloween and not hear jhon carpenters score . You cant go camping without hearing Friday the 13th score . We need horror music to ruin things again .... Like jaws did for the ocean . Its about the climax not the build up anymore ...... Without the build up . The climax feels fake .......

tdg223 Digital is convenient, but analog offers better sound quality. I also enjoy the large album artwork and colored records. Vinyl isn't a cheap hobby, so just be prepared for that.

Claudia Foley I did, but that one got taken down for copyright violations. I tried fighting it because three different companies all claimed to own the copyright to the same song, but I couldn't get any of them to respond.

That's "Sail Away Tiny Sparrow" at 38:23. However, the movie uses a version sung by a woman while a man sings on the album.

So much of this, with it's shrill and high-pitched string section and jarring chords (like metaphors for stabbing) sounds like a rip-off of Bernard Herrmann's music for Psycho ; except that Hermann's scores are way superior.

I listened to this whole video from beginning to end. I simply don't like this master. There are youtube videos of this music that sound fuller and more clearly defined that this terrible effort. Did the vinyl mastering guy not know what he was doing, or were the master tapes just left sitting in someone's hot musty basement, falling apart for 40 years? If the audio here is a direct line-out from the phonograph itself, then I think I'll change my mind about getting a copy of this.

"Sail Away Tiny Sparrow" as played here, is actually slowed down both in pitch, and instrumental, as the song is actually sung by female (as heard in the original film in the early diner scene).
