I decided on a recent rewatch that of the original Paramount films (1-8) The New Blood is definitely the worst (yes, even worse than Jason Takes Manhattan). I like the poster of the New Blood and the way Jason looks in the film...but that's about it.

The Friday Series is just meant to be a slasher B movie exploitation series. Critics hate them because they can't accept them for what they are and instead hate them for what they are. I think the first Friday the 13th is a good slasher it just isn't great. The characters are basic the film drags some the kills are good and the killer is well acted with a good ending jump scare. The 2009 Reboot suffers because despite having all the trademarks of the Friday series it lacks the tone and feel of one. The movie updates the series for the torture porn generation and has the same lighting as every Platinum Dunes Reboot. The movie looks and feels just like Texas Chainsaw 2003. Jason himself is to humanized in the movie with the underground tunnels which they didn't need. The movie brushes past Jasons origin to mich theu should have developed Jasons relationships with his father and mother at least in some flashbacks. The movie has some good kills the opening is good but over long and ending the movie on a cliff hanger is interesting. The new Jason is well acted but to humanized. It's an alright Friday the 13th movie.
