Should be fairly quick. Mine is now in the order of two or three seconds. The problem I had was with the battery igniter (shown in the you tube clip) where poor connections were preventing a good connection to the spark generating unit. If you cannot hear a spark this is a good place to start. Checking the battery of the battery igniter version is also a good idea.
