Thank you Lisa for your demonstration. Our son's girlfriend gave us a goose egg and from what he told us it needed to be poached. We had never seen a goose egg before so it is helpful to know that it is the equivalent of 3 regular eggs.
Oh you can cook goose eggs the same way you cook chicken eggs. I've never hard boiled one, so I don't know how long that would take, but they scramble up just fine or you can make omelets...
If you drop the egg right into the pan from like a foot above the pan the fall cracks the egg perfectly every time with no shells what so ever! Try it out!
I always looked forward to spring when I kept geese. Now I’ve found someone nearby with geese who doesn’t want the eggs! Woohoo! P.s. I always felt they weren’t ideal scrambled, texture not quite right. Maybe I’ll take your advice and try them a little less cooked.
P.S. I just have one as an occasional treat now. I like to fry it briefly then break the yolk all round. When it's spread out I turn it and fry 'til it's just firming up. Into a BIG bun ( or two small ones). Yolk in every bite and none down my chin.
Yo, I just got a goose egg at the farmer's market and will be making a goose egg carbonara. I wanna make it super traditional. I'll let you know how it goes.
Excellent. I've recently switched to a Carnivore Keto diet and eggs richer in healthy fats is what I'm interested. I've switched to Duck eggs for that exact reason but I've been curious about Goose Eggs also. They look delicious and I can't wait to try them.
Thank you so much for sharing this! I bought a goose egg today from a farmers market. I've never had one for seen one cooked before so I didn't know what to expect. The man at the stall told me it was just like a duck egg but larger. When I cracked it into the pan and it cooked, the white was almost grey and semi translucent. It smelled fine but tasted kind of...musty...is the best way I could explain it. So I didn't continue to eat it. What could this mean? Was it bad? Old? The yolk seemed fine but the white was not white AT ALL and a strange texture. It didn't look like yours. Thank you in advance for any help! This video was great! X
delcellashaw- Goose egg yolks do taste a bit stronger than a chicken egg. That said, I ate precious few. All of my large flock of Standard Toulouse were fertile, so the eggs went into the incubator. I got $7.00 each for a day old Toulouse VS 50 cents for a goose egg. Folks would not buy my eggs to eat, rather they were artists who carefully blew out the contents and painted them in amazing designs with scenes inside. ~ Diane
@@FreshEggsDaily Thank you for getting back to me Lisa. This egg white was grey, bubbly and translucent once cooked. It definitely wasn't a healthy egg, whatever the reason! We've since bought lovely ones which tasted and appeared "normal" 👍
Got my first goose egg, and I'm literally intimidated by the thing, lol. It's so big, and the yolk especially is huge. Taking in that this is like 3 large chicken eggs - it's a full meal.
