Great sounds. I had have similar feelings about my IR-X. I don't use the high gain channel much. I've enjoyed using boost and overdrive pedals into the "plexi/clean" channel quite a bit, but having access to the Shirley sound in this new format is definitely much more exciting for me personally. I'll be getting one for sure as soon as i can get 500 bucks together.

Would you consider the low end tight on the IR-D?

With the right pickups, it can get pretty tight but it's not it's strength. If you are wanting a higher gain and more percussive and tight attack, I would recommend the BluGuitar Iridium. It does that better than the IRD but has the same general vibe to the sound as the IRD and the benefit of being a full 100w amp with speaker outputs, etc (and a higher price but that's to be expected). I had one for a while and I liked it but It didn't really do anything my Fractal FM3 didn't already do and I had an offer to buy it for what I paid for it so I parted ways. I am eager to hear the new Amp X though coming (hopefully) soon.
