I have to say Friendly Fires are probably one of the best bands of the last 10 years. I just bought both their albums on iTunes last week and have been listening non stop. Each song of both albums is just high quality. How are these guys not more famous. And I love the fact that they don't sound like radiohead, coldplay and all the other moaney, dark, negative music that has been en vogue in the indie world since Nirvana. Songs like jump in the pool and hawaiian air are just from another planet. And songs like skeleton boy and Photo Booth just rock like they are from another planet. Superb. keep it up the good work and can't wait til next album.
I remember watching this on MTV 8 years ago during a linguistic journey in Brighton. Amazing memories and amazing song. You brits are outstanding for music
Feels lovely for me a young man to enjoy a music that is enjoyed by lot of (probably) old commenters in comment section, I feel obliged to keep listening to this happy amazing song
Yup - I think most of the lyric sites probably just copy-paste from wherever the lyric was initially posted, without checking for spelling. As you rightly say, it's "clime", from 'climate', and the Latin clima.
Thank you so much for playing in Birmingham as part of your 15th Anniversary of the debut Album, it’s such a positive vibe when you played Hawaiian Air, some of the lads in the crowd rocking Hawaiian Shirts too
I sing this whenever im in a bad mood so much that now it comes second nature. Lol,its such a satisfying eargasm, his voice, the beat just gaining and gaining, so amazing. Thanks you so much for making such helpful and soothing music💙
I was stationed in Hawaii for 5 years on Oahu while serving with the 25th I.D. on Wheeler Army Airfield. I spent almost 3 of those years deployed in the Middle East - but as always - Knowing that I would be comming back to Hawaii always put a smile on my face. I love the culture, people, land, water, and food. My last year there I lived downtown Waikiki - amazing to say the least. I had the beach, clubs, gym, and restaraunts all within walking distance - I'm going back for keeps one day!!!!!!!!!
believe it or not this song thwarted a suicide attempt of mine. It was finals and most likely i was going to lose scholarship at my dream school as well as the double and triple whammies of deciding to end my relationship with my abusive father as well as being burnt out from starting to use drugs that year (all of them pretty much). I was planning to drown myself in my gross bathtub, so i put on my last saved album on spotify for some noise, hawaiian air came on and i felt chills and an odd sense of peace. i put my clothes back on, stared out the window for a while and went and had some shrimp past with the people in the apartment next door. I felt like my life was pretty much past it's use but the song's optimistic sound really helped
Randomly thought of this song while watching a movie where the people were on a plane to Hawaii. The 1st time I heard this was in college and I fell in love. A perfect song.
when i first heard this on the radio i didn't like it much but after seeing the video i think i understand the feeling of the song a lot better. now i can't stop listening to it. good work!
This video cracks me up! It reminds me of the first time I flew to Hawaii, which was the first time I had ever flown. There was a little girl sitting next to me (a lot like the one at :37) who kept asking me to say particular words because of my thick southern drawl, LOL. Great video! Thanks for the trip down memory lane. ;P
When i was only 10 i was playing Forza horizon and all Time i want tounderstand English now i understand and its very good. Pl Kiedy miałem 10 lat grałem w forze i zawsze chciałem rozumieć teksty teraz już rozumiem❤️💙
yesterday evening the wonderful live concert at the Gurtenfestival: my first encounter with this band and this song took me away! Great instrumentals, impressive singer and ... good ambience!! Keep it on!
Dear Friendly Fires, I love you, your music is amazing. Please come to Kansas City so that I may behold you in all of your live glory. That is all, thank you.
Was in a clothes store today - coming up to closing time , few people in there and this tune comes on . Im bopping my head humming along , then the manager cuts the music. about 3 of us looked at each other and booed. He put the song back on. We cheered.
This track just does my head in! I really like this band; they have a very unique sound that doesn't really remind me of anyone except maybe Echo and the Bunnymen. This video along with the amazingly written lyrics are a perfect window into what it's like when you're decompressing from outside society upon entering the otherworld that is Maui, which is the island where they filmed this. I could totally see myself hiking in the forest or alongside the Wailea beach highway, wearing a sarong and eating shave ice with this blasting in my earbuds. Da kine!
