To all those sensitive people with no sense of humour saying "oh, that's not funny", that's kinda the whole charm of Phoebe!, she had an awful childhood, and she was still the happiest & perkiest of the group. The comedy comes from her comparing actually awful stuff she lived through with some everyday annoyance, the comedy is in the irony, and how she sees not much difference.

You do realize that it's a character not a real person. If it was a real person who went through all that and had that attitude towards life, it would be really inspirational. But it's sitcom character written by folks who definitely did not share Phoebe's life experience. They gave her that backstory and those dialogues for the explicit purpose of comedy. It's indefensible and I cannot see how people still tryna portray it in the positive light when almost all of her lines of this kind are followed by a literal laugh track!

If you are from a western country, whats the use of getting a bike as a kid, and then soon getting a car at 16. Makes no sense. In a 3rd world country like India, getting a bicycle was a privilege and luxury, and even many office goers cycle to work. Even government officials gift millions of bicycles to the underprivileged every year. Why crib about bikes when you live in western developed countries ? Of what use are bikes over there ?

I adore Pheebs! She may of turned to booze or drugs, but she made a decent ife , was`nt angry, and so upbeat and strong. I get she`s a character, but she was just down to earth and came across as weird, but was wise, gave advice and a good friend. After her rough past, she `d be a great mother.

The second is wrong. HBO watch and see when Phoebe talked to her father, he said the he was a bad parent and he used to sing a song similar to Smelly Cat… So he walked away when Phoebe and her sister was children… 🤨

I’ll summarize it. That way you don’t have to waste 5 minutes of your life on this video! Phoebe was a little girl until her father left and her mother killed herself. So she’s been living on the streets for 14 years, until she got a job, was Monica’s roommate, then moved out. She then met her long lost brother Frank Jr., gave birth to his triplets. Then met the love of her life, Mike and they got married. And they all lived happily ever after! The end! There could be more but I’m too lazy to type it all.

Because she’s literally been trough so much trauma as a child? And she has become this weird, deviating from average person as a reaction to that trauma? Plus she doesn’t have bad intentions and tries to be a good person so what’s the problem ? Also not everyone can be perfect, boring , practical puritans , contrary to what many USA and western people want to believe
