A little more detail about what everyone else is saying in the comments. Lisa Kurdrow had a recurring role on another show, Mad About You, before she was cast on Friends. She played Ursula, a waitress at a small restaurant that the characters from that show visited regularly. Once Friends got started and became a hit, they decided to connect the two shows since they were on the same network and aired back-to-back on the same night. So the writers decided to make them twins.
The reason they applauded the ladies entering the coffeehouse was because they were characters from Mad About You (which was Helen Hunt's claim to fame), on which Ursula was a character before Lisa Kudrow was cast on Friends, so they made Ursula Phoebe's twin so the two shows exist in the same universe. Fun fact: the actress playing Nina is Cary Grant's daughter
I guess Friends, Mad About You, Madman of the People and The Single Guy all take place in the same universe. Seinfeld was also part of the "blackout special" but had no narrative ties to the blackout so it's disqualified.

Just some trivia... The blond actress, Helen Hunt, who walked into the coffee house (Central Perk) has actually played in several movies (mostly from the 90s though). For instance "As Good as It Gets", a part she won an Oscar for.
And she was the lead on the show that either preceded or followed Friends on thursday nights on NBC, where the character of Ursula originated before Friends started, 'Mad About You'. The show was recently resurrected for Sony's streaming service Spectrum.
Mad About You was a sitcom that premiered a couple of years before Friends. Lisa Kudrow played Ursula the ditsy waitress on it. Phoebe actually never mentions that she has a twin before this episode because the writers don't write it in before this episode. so don't worry, you didn't miss anything haha I really hope you upload part 2 soon because it's definitely one of those 2-parters that picks up right where part 1 left off.
that's not true. phoebe mentions that she has a twin in ep.2, when they're talking about how terrible monica's parents are to her. you can see that scene in joe's reaction on this channel, he even says that we're probably gonna see phoebe's twin at some point, lol. he just forgot.
Great that you are enjoying "Friends". Help us enjoy it with you. Your editing is choppy. If you make a comment that is irrelevant to the playing picture, turn off the picture in picture and save time. Let other vital scenes play out and breathe. It has been a while since I saw these episodes and I don't remember everything. Most of the time I don't understand what is going on. Maybe it is your style to talk over the action, but this sitcom has rapid oneliners that you, and I, miss because of your banter over them.
The point if videos like this isn't for you to watch it with him. Its that you've seen it and can just enjoy his reaction, it's supposed to be choppy. And if He did what you suggested he'd probably get copyrighted.
