celestia screaming in agony and fear as she feels herself being eaten alive is so much scarier when you remember that she was immortal mere hours ago. nothing has pierced her flesh in thousands of years and now their are hundreds of teeth ripping that flesh apart, she probably hadn't even gotten so much as an injection since before needles even existed.
I just want to say I'm a 19 man who isn't scared that much nowadays bc everything's like the same . But this oh my Lanta. The screaming in agony and goodness how long the pain lasted for but ik she didn't die a fast death
on the other hoof, Celestia realizing all the Diomedes horses were gathered around her and taking that opportunity to pour the rest of her magic into burning the whole forest to the ground is pretty smart
It's probably more so for their forces as they did mention that all of them were there and they're probably not nearly as powerful and to prevent any absorption of her magic if it could actually be done by disintegrating her body

Good GOD the VA for Celestia blew her role out of the water. The screams of anguish and pain made my heart freeze in fear. I am so looking forward to the rest of this series. Everyone has done an amazing job and I'm speechless.
the juxtaposition of twilight's friends saying goodbye being really happy, then everything getting ominous on twi's ride with celestia, then twi waking up to a blood-soaked massacre halfway through the episode creates a fantastic sinking feeling. going from normal mlp to basically the crossed comics is grimdark as hell. i'm pretty sure things won't get back to normal anytime soon. (or at all whatsoever, knowing vampiolence''s downer ending!)
I cannot fathom how much pain Celestia went through. Just hearing the sounds just sends shivers down my back, and this is coming from a dude who isn't really scared that much. I hope Twilight or whoever avenges Celestias death

Dude holy hell this first part got fucking dark! So Twilights been in a coma for 4 years, and during that time a war has begun with the very people she was supposed to be meeting, that's a lot to take in after just waking up. God Celestia's VA did a killer job with those fucking screams! Honestly made me feel uncomfortable, almost like I was listening to someone being torn apart IRL, so well done 👏👏👏 I can't help but think that Twilight is at least partially responsible for Celestia death, seeing as how Celestia was to preoccupied fighting Twilight to protect herself. I can only wonder how the other girls reacted to everything that happened. Excellent first chapter! Till next time 👋

The Mare's of Diomedes, The eight labor in Hercules Twelve Labors. Man-eating Mares owned by King Diomedes of Thrace. The Mares were kept in a manger made of bronze and shackled with iron chains in the city Tirida. The Mares names are Podargos (the swift), Lampon (the shining), Xanthos (the yellow) and Deinos (the terrible). In the Twelve Labors Hercules must steal the mares to complete his labor and move on to the next. In one version after being caught trying to steal the mares Hercules overpowers Diomedes and feeds him to the horses. This cures the mares of their need for human flesh now satisfied with the blood of their former master. Good story, a bit too much shock value at the beginning for my taste would have liked to have seen a build up first. But It had the effect you were going for. Look forward to see more next week.
I take pride in keeping my knowledge of history and culture sharp. I’m curious to see how much of this story will take inspiration from the Twelve Labors. Weather it just be for flavor or take actual elements of the mythology and play around with them. And FYI for those who are also in the know, Yes I know Hercules is the Roman version and not the original Greek Heracles. They are literally the same person just one has a Latin name and the other Greek. I’m saying Hercules because I think it sounds better.
You are correct Celestia mentioned that there are six sister Queens. But that is this story and not part of any version of Hercules Twelve Labors. There were only four in all versions of the story. However that does not mean we can’t speculate who the other two might be. One likely possible candidate is Bucephalus being the personal steed of Alexander The Great. A horse said to be a direct descendant of the Mares of Diomedes. Another pair of horses famous in Greek Myth are the two horses that pulled the chariot of Achilles’ a Greek hero just as famous as Hercules. The Horses names where Balius and Xanthus. Xanthus in particular was gifted the power of speech by Hera but only speaks in prophecy. Also worth noting that Xanthos is another name for Xanthus but the two shouldn’t be confused they are not the same horse in both the Twelve Labors and the Iliad they are two separate horses. But there’s enough of a connection to say it could be them. As I said depending on how much Scribbler has done her homework regarding horses from Greek Culture and history and it remains consistent with that theme going forward into the story then I would say those three are my strongest candidates for the other two.

*That was dark...good thing I read dark fics often.* I would do the same thing Celestia did. Faced with impossible odds, keeping Twilight safe, saving Equestria, cut off from retreat, with no other alternative... ...I’d do the same. Better to take as many as I can with me before....no mercy. No holding back. Celestia’s last stand reminds me of the following video: DBZ Kai - Vegeta’s Sacrifice (Re-score with Bardock Falls) All in all, Top notch work. VAs, ya’ll did one SPECTACULAR of a job. Artists, awesome scenery. And the sounds effects? Well...very creepy...and disturbing but spot on.
Well... that's one way to make me actually despise the main villain of any fanfic in a good way that people are supposed to not like villains. I'm hoping Luna will become a badass Warrior and avenge her sister.
@Hunter Johnson yeah, the reason I hated the candymare so much was because I felt like she was way too OP. That's actually a problem I have with a lot of grimdark stories. They make the Mane 6 or whoever is involved way too weak like they can't defend themselves and they make the antagonist way too powerful for "Shock value".
@@princeartemis440 the only reason why Celestia failed was because of idiot Twilight. She kept fighting Celestia's spell so Celestia had to try to stop her, which prevented her from protecting herself against Zorthos and her army. If twilight had just stopped, Celestia would have the open ground and blast the Zorthos and her army away.

Just imagine, coming back from exile for a thousand years and being reunited with your one and only blood relative and for them to be murdered in an extremely cowardly way not even a year later.
@Hunter Johnson in one of scribblers videos about the subject, I think it was last Christmas, the author of something sweet to bite was in the comments section and he told me more about the candy Mare. Apparently she has Majin Buu levels of regeneration. And was stupidly overpowered from the way he described it

I always found audio dramas interesting. The amount of talent put into this is amazing. The art, voice acting and story is so good. I can't wait to see more.
The voice acting is incredible. The pain and grief feel so raw and real I don't really know how to react. I feel like I'm there with them in a way. It's heart wrenching absolutely soul tearingly heart wrenching. It's all so well done. Also the songs are really beautiful.

Jesus scribbler. Il never get over your amazing use and quality of sound affects. The crunching and slurping effects were enough to make me cringe rather then the act itself. Just such a more vivid picture to paint and man is it macabre as all hell

I don't know what I was expecting, after watching the trailer for this. It definitely was NOT this. This was beyond my wildest night-terrors, and I'm not saying this as a bad thing. I am saying this as a good thing. I just want to say this was... breathtaking, chills were running up and down my spine the entire time. The characterizations, the voice acting, the art, the music - everything was beautifully woven together for a truly terrifying thrill. I, for one, am eager to see what the next episode will bring! I know when the time comes I will be EATING it all up, you know~? Thank you and all the people who worked tirelessly- of this I am sure- on this to bring it to life! I am an avid consumer of all things Grimdark, I've always wanted to start taking up Grimdark readings - but unfortunately I just don't have the voice for it. My voice isn't something I can tell a compelling horror story with. I've never thought about putting two of my favorite things together, grimdark and audio dramas! I am hoping that I'll be able to put my hoof into the community, finally. Thank you so much for the inspiration, I'll definitely be trying to start up my own audio dramas, either for the normal MLP series, like canon divergences and grimdark. I have one Grimdark idea in mind called Glacial Gallop. I also have a few audio dramas for canon divergences and alt universe, but since I'm so new to the community, my video for three of my audio drama ideas haven't been seen yet.
You keep raising the bar. I'm so thankful to have been apart of it (it's been an honour). I can't wait to watch the remainder... but the *real* question I have is... HOW THE HECK ARE YOU GONNA TOP THIS??!
While grimdark really isn't my thing, I'm glad to find that there are those in the fandom who are keeping our beloved characters alive through audio drama. I'm truly sorry that "No Place Like Home" and "History Repeats" were discontinued, as they were most engrossing and had potential. But I'm certainly aware of how easy it is for plans to be abandoned. It's most unusual for any drama or story nowadays to be set back when Twilight was a unicorn and not a princess, so I'm intrigued by that. And the villains were truly creepy and terrifying (what exactly *were* they?). Thank you to all participants and let us never let these wonderful characters be forgotten.
Something about this is just how quickly it switches from another slice of life MLP story to gruesome horror. I do wish the Diomedes ponies had more substance in the story than just the inciting incident, but that's neither here nor there. The voice actors sound amazingly close to how they do in the show, while also keeping an air of liberty to their deliveries if you get what I mean. Keep up the good work Ms. Scribbler and co. Can't wait for the sequel to continue as well as a possible continuation of History Repeats. - Superman
I can see this is a start of something magical. I only now began listening to this wonderful creation. From the magnificent voice acting to the illustrations following the story, I can see that this is truly a masterpiece. I have never ever been so glued to a story like this. To the creators of this story I wish a ton of luck and a huge thank you for making this story so enjoyable to listen to.

Had to wait 5 days to watch this because I was on vacation and HOLY MOLY, that was an insane. And FOUR YEARS? Holy cow. So much must've changed in all that time. Now I can't wait for episode 2
While a broken horn can be seen as a bad thing this means that Twilight's magic no longer has a filter. Yes controlling it is hard but Twilight will be ready to unleash her rage in pure unfiltered magic to destroy them.

@@Briselance Though if this truly defines itself under grimdark, the war will cost potentially the Elements of Harmony based on the photos shown alongside the voice actors for each of thr Mane 6(and considering King Sombra hasn't returned, they'd have to rely on Luna's memory of the Crystal Empire, which defintely seems like a grimdark by definition)

At my job, i work alone after a certain time and I use that time while working to listen to stuff. and I deeply love this series. This and many others from the fandom.
I'm just starting to watch this, and it seems interesting so far, to have a dark price for magic and everything makes it more so. I have yet to see anything scary where I am though. The famous last words going through my head 'It couldn't so be so scary, right. ?'
