Actually, it was Linda Young in the original dub of Dragon Ball Z (from 1999 to 2009), then Chris Ayres (from 2010 to 2019) and now, the understudy of Chris Ayres is Damon Mills Forgot to mention the name of the woman who voiced Frieza from the Ocean Group and many others as well.
1st form Frieza in his pod is lowkey my favorite Frieza. Ayers makes him sound particularly slimey and snake-like in these early scenes. It's a great forboding vibe for him!
Prob unintentional as this was Ayres first time as Frieza, but I like how Ayres made Frieza sound more feminine in his first appearance to bridge in the jump from Linda Young to him as Frieza
it’s interesting to hear Ayres get used to Freeza in the beginning before he settles on the final voice. he never sounds quite so high-pitched as in this scene again!
Dodoria and Zarbon are monsters in their own right, but i think they serve Frieza out of fear and due to their desire for power, dominance, wealth, and the freedom to commit atrocities with inpunity, not out of genuine loyalty. Were Frieza not so much more powerful than them, they would've ditched or killed him.
@@greatestnitemare6626 then why did Zarbon beg to aid Vegeta in exchange for his life. A true loyal soldier would die before they betrayed their master, though Zarbon was probably lying.
At first I did not like Frieza's voice. But notice how much better it was getting throughout this particular video. By the time he got to Dende's village, Chris Ayres NAILED IT. RIP 😭😭💔💔
Honestly he was sound a lot like starscream I think frieza is what Starscream would be like if he got leadership role instead megatron allowing his already loathsome traits to be more pronounced
He does sound a bit like Pauline in that first scene. I remember when the episode first came out dubbed, a lot of people on DBZ forums were worried that we'd get another English rendition of Freeza that didn't capture all aspects of his character. Thankfully, everyone was wrong. Even in the next few scenes, you can hear Ayres settling into the role. By the time Freeza actually has to fight, he's a perfect fit.
I've always been under the impression that Ayres' voice here was *_purposely_* meant to sound more woman-like, Frieza being more female in appearance in this form. I loved it as a way of differentiating between his forms.
@@epiclightning6845 well Linda Young does play Freeza in the first episode of Kai, they wanted her to reprise her role originally but she ultimately declined when she tried out some actual lines for Namekk episodes because she struggled to keep up with the fancier vocabulary they gave him while maintaining her Freeza voice, and Chris Ayres already had some experience taking over Linda Young in the game Raging Blast 2 where he sounds the most like Linda Young.
@@dawudhunt9024 Than Zarbon. Mostly, because he's a brute doing all the grunt work involving eradicating all the species if they defines Frieza's rule. He should be at a height of Zarbon's in a monster form. Not shorter than Cui.
