How does the drive gear go bad?? And how do you determine it as such? Short of obvious damage, it appears to be a simple, solid piece.

For me. The gear looks as though it has worn teeth and it no longer lines up correctly with the main gear for turning.

I’m not sure either. Mine was making a horrible ‘knocking’ sound. This is what my gear looks like: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Vxp-dBxzeIM.html Once it’s repaired I’ll upload another video with more info.

My ice-maker was making a knovking noise also. The big gear was not turning the small gear properly. All the gear teeth looked fine and seem to mesh properly so I don’t know what exactly is causing the restriction. ALSO, why did you replace your large gear? Looks perfectly fine to me.

My large gear is worn as well. But the smaller motor drive gear has quite a bit of slop in it. I can wiggle it back and forth.

Thank you. My large gear wont mesh with the smaller gear unless I have my screw above as tight as you have it but then it seems no ice. If I back it out I get water coming in, i tighten it but then large gear isnt in contact w small gear. I have it meshing now and will see what happens. Our freezer needs freon now cooling down to 0 F.

turn the ice cube size adjustment screw all the way in. This will make the cubes as small as possible which will make the cubes come out sooner. It doesn't completely solve the problem since mine still skips but it will make the gears last longer. It is a built in issue that the company could fix by having the heater turn on 30 seconds sooner before the motor to eject the cubes kicks in but they won't since they can sell the whole unit for $150. Good fridge otherwise.

There is another white wheel with teeth. Both of my white wheel have broken teeth. Can I just replace both of them?

Right above that white round gear is a screw which appears to have a spring on it and on the housing itself it has a plus to the right and I - to the left can you tell me what that screw is for

turn in , clockwise for smaller cubes. It makes it easier for the machine to harvest the smaller cubes.
