We used to do multi-family houses here in America. Grandparents, parents, children, and other relatives all lived together in the same house or on the same land in different houses. This was a very long time ago though. Way before I was born and I'm almost 50.

It's interesting how different you live compared to the way we do in North America. Most young people move away from the home as singles, or if they find a partner or marry, I would never consider having my parents live under the same roof as my husband and boys, same goes for my husband's parents. It is more individuality here, it's great to learn of different cultures. I am close to my parents but caring for my own family I have enough on my plate. Our home just fits me, my husband, 2 sons and 2 dogs

It’s very humbling to see where you live. Every time I look at somebody’s home from the Middle East. I don’t mean a rich person, I mean, just the average guy, even in some Asian countries like India and Pakistan, I’m amazed that they don’t have any furniture.. all they have is carpets on the floor. Which I guess is where they sleep, eat, and do everything.. I mean no disrespect, but as a Westerner, it’s very strange and interesting at the same time.

I did not know generations and extended family lived in the same compound. Also, did you have to rebuild because of the floods.? One more question please, why are there no table or seating chairs?

I was enjoying the tour, but in the middle my subtitles in English cut off and I could not get them to come back on. Too bad.
