The Moroder version was restored by a fan and released on DVD as Metropolis Redux. The picture quality is so superior to the blu-ray it's amazing. It took the guy 2 years to re-edit exactly the same as Moroder's and re-color it, but using the pristine restored print. It makes this copy look like a cartoon. He had clips on youtube but they have pulled them.
Everyone says the Moroder one never came out on DVD. It did but but only in Greece and then it was only B&W as the colour tints have been taken off. It had an animated menu of the robot and rings the M machine spinning as well. It was put out by Arcadia Entertainment which I believe is a subsiduary of Sanyo. Luckily Kino have put it out in DVD and Blu Ray now, in its full glory :) How do I know about the Greek DVD.well I have it on DVD :), but already ordered the Kino copy, due out 15/11/11
