When I was 3-5 years old, living in Rupert, my dad would fly us over in a small helicopter. It was a 2 seater so I sat at my moms feet and got dropped off with her. My brother (age 6/7) would have to wait on the hwy across the Skeena for my dad to come back (Could you imagine what would happen doing that now?)! That was 30ish years ago, and the hot spring was in its glory.I remember playing in the hut very well. Would be nice for it be restored.. It was simply nice to see it still there! Thanks for sharing!

Yeah I don’t get people who go through the effort and time to get out there and enjoy a beautiful place only to not take the same effort to take their garbage with them.

I visited there in '82. The cabin was a bit tired even then. If my memory is correct, there were 4 tubs along a slope. The first draining into the second and so forth. Mark

you have to be careful when crossing to go on a rising tide due to a large sand bar in front of the place can be very dangerous on falling tide.
@marknewman8609

Do you know what time of year would be best to cross the Skeena?
@jkatbonneschranz4963
@jkatbonneschranz4963 3 года назад
@@marknewman8609 summer months are better i think higher water levels ,but can get rough on a falling tide middle to late after noon. when it has been sunning for a few days cold air from the ocean getting sucked up towards terrace ,the wind against falling tide makes it quite rough. best to cross closer to high tide.

We had a similar situation near Nakusp. People loved going to wilder hot springs to camp there because it was “unspoilt” and then left garbage all over. Disgusting and so unnecessary. So now some places are behind private property barriers and some have become official sites.

Great find. I need one of those inflatable boats! I wish more people would come together to keep these places in better condition. Access probably makes it difficult, but it's too cool of a spot to let rot away!

The condition of the cabin is a lot to do with the coastal weather. The only wood that will last on the coast is cedar. The cabin was built in the mid 80's.

I'm actually interested as to how they got the materials out there to build that stuff. You'd think if they were able to get an entire tub out there then they would have some sort of way to move things out easily, and someone could get around to redoing it. I don't know who owns the land so I wouldn't know the procedures to be allowed to rebuild it, but I think it'd definitely be a cool project if someone was able to do it!
@lifeofluke

@@lifeofluke I found this video while looking into Frizzell Hotsprings because I had the idea to packraft over myself! How long did the crossing take you, and where did you park/put in? Did you go on an incoming tide, or slack? How long is the hike to the spring from shore?
@lifeofluke
@lifeofluke 3 года назад
It's still worth going over, but rapidly deteriorating. I didn't pay attention to incoming or going tides and it was pretty strong. I parked at one of the highway pull outs. The hot spring is 1 min from the shore.

@@lifeofluke we would love to rebuild and clean it up however at this time we have 2 little ones and it’s going to be a huge job to get the garbage out and the materials in. … so it’s going to have to wait ! We haven’t been over in a few years and we’re saddened to see the amount of garbage left behind… as well the nails etc… ( not a place for little ones)
