Novelist Clive Cussler, the man whose maritime alter-ego, adventurer Dirk Pitt, raised the Titanic and explored countless shipwrecks, has himself located more than 60 sunken ships and submarines. Cussler (who died on February 24, 2020, at age 88) talked to correspondent Anthony Mason in this interview that originally aired on "Sunday Morning" on January 25, 1998, in which he discussed his passion for vintage cars, and for going beneath the ocean's surface to find the answers to naval history's perplexing questions.

Adventure was in this ol Sea Dog through n through. He not only wrote adventure novels, he went on adventures seeking ill gotten maritime vessels. It was his passion. He followed those maritime adventurers until alas he joined them, in the by n by. Around 90 wreck discoveries! God blessed NUMA.

His books 📚 will be classics to remain for good. I was happy 😊 when I found a Doxa watch maid after his name in a special box 📦 that looks like an old adventure book 📖 and with all the names of the shipwrecks he discovered engraved on the back of the watch.

Clive is my favorite author! I recently finished "Fire Ice" now I'm reading one of the Oregon Files books "Silent Sea". I wish he were still alive 😢

I have only read about maybe four or five of his books and I got great enjoyment out of them and I want to I have this goal before I croak I will read at least as many of his books as I can possibly get my hands on the still in print

I have just finished reading Dark Vector and Fast Ice. I have read quite a few of his books, my Favorited at the moment is the NUMA ones with Kurt Austin, side kick Joe and Gamey and Paul Trout, who i wish were real and i could hang with them or go on a adventure with them.
