I feel ya Mike ! Take it from another Mike ! Some folks ! Yep ! I feel ya and know what you mean ! That being said, your work, Phenomenal ! Looking forward to your Sunday Night chat !
Heat makes men flip out. I still haven't figured out what makes women flip out. Back in summer '81, we were staining some lattice-style awnings out in the desert heat in Yermo. It was for a couple of new rest areas. Four Cal Trans Supervisors kept coming out in four orange Dodge pickups to tell us we needed more coats on the wood even after we had sprayed five coats and already Thompson sealed them! My brother-in-law Ray lost it and sprayed their boots with full bodied stain.
Leaving an imperfection is a Traditional Spiritual practice. Did you know this? When I make jewelry or any type of beadwork, I always add a stone or different color bead in there somewhere, just a little imperfection
Mike I feel you, I do a job where I have to park near the house sometimes in front of the neighbours, the closer I am the less time I will be in everyone's way! But wealthy people are the worst - you can't block my drive, I can't walk 20 feet to my house! Cheers from Sherwood England
Thank you for sharing your experience and thoughts with us. I appreciate your honesty. Understanding is key to being able to help others understand. Some people don’t have the ability to understand. Both understanding yourself will help you understand your situation plus others triggers
Howdy Mike...just wanted to take a lil time to let you know your story telling is relatable and interesting and often relieves my own frustration with day to day incidents that we all must cope with and grow to overcome. Btw, Im a Hussy fan which brought me to your channel. Your both champs in my eyes. Hang in there..big fan!!
Im 62 and trying to figure out everything always works out. And all the time ive spent freaking out and arguing and worrying about crap was a total waste of my time. But i still do. But catching myself more and more telling myself to chill in a few hrs this will mean nothing.
Sounds like you both triggered one another. Hey, it happens. Yeah, when someone is in trigger, they are in anxiety and that blocks the other areas of the brain. You have to wait for calm to address the stuff. Some ppl don't know where it comes from. I understand where you are coming from, had a mother like that too. So glad you both cared and talked it out. Great work!
I get the feeling, that sometimes, when you do a little laugh, it might not be the safest place to be.(haha). Sometimes people don't understand, is that no one wants to hear life's bs, early in the morning or after work." Just saying...)
So glad you worked it out!! No one should have to hear that crap first thing in the morning and ruin one's good vibe! Or after work either..😠🥴 You're a good guy Mike. 👍 Love your carpentry!! 🤩
Hey Mike. Thanks for update. This one has a lot of applications for my buildings. Questions: What is the species and grades of 6x6s, 2x12s, 2x6s…and what’s the distance from floor surface to bottom of the 2x6s near the ledger and floor surface to lowest part of arch out at the yard end of the new roof?
It's all fir, construction grade to be painted. All specs were determined by the only place I could fit the ledger board and still have any rafters - It's why I had to go with 2x6's.... The notch in the posts that carry the 2x12's is at 6'-5" and the center of the curve is 5" up from the bottom of the 2X12 so 6'-10" - The doubled 2x12's will essentially become a 5-1/2" thick header after I fill the gap with the parts that'll straddle the rafters - I've over built this mainly for the aesthetics
@@AstroVanTribe Thanks for taking the time to detail that Mike. It really looks bitchin’ and will be spectacular. I always overbuild. In the long run it’s more economical.
I would say we all have trauma and we all need to be slow to judge, slow to speak and not demand of each other. Appreciate the self awareness. New subscriber.
Glad to hear things worked out. We as humans try to describe our anger, but you have to experience it to know how it feels. Then, you can sit back in silence and nod your head when someone describe their day of anger.
What you did to the metal chairs is TRIGGERED! People can snap from things like you described in your past and do things completely out of character. It's a bummer and it ruins lives.
What's with the tents on the driveway ? Outside living ... and it looks like a widow to the right of the back door ?? I lived in California at age 11 and 12
Justice or injustice was swift for baby boomers but we had the most freedom .We could take off and be gone all day .Escape school at night - weekends - summer .That was are time to heal , and if you had a mini bike and a place to ride with no helmet or protective gear , life was good .Last of the boomers .
Hi, Mike. I have 2 suggestions for you. (1) Don't do final install yet so you can take the pieces and lay them down for staining or painting with rollers. Then install. Screw painting from a ladder! (2) I probably don't have to tell you this, but be wary my friend! The owner might have seemed to gotten over the argument for now but just planning to wait for completion and then won't pay. It happened to me. I found that your close friends can screw you better than any stranger could because it is completely unexpected! The best to you, Sir! Larry in Thousand Oaks, Ca.
I know exactly how you feel, because I’ve come to the same realization… the heat seems to get to me more now, even though I don’t see myself any older !!! You may need to get some help
Hey Mike Nice work!...Too Bad the trailer is Land-Locked...a lot of people are into the "Canned Ham"...Shasta type trailers. Don't overdo it...looking forward to the job well done. Keep blood pressure down.....
I was watching "My Big Fat Greek Wedding" the other day for like the hundredth time. I just knew a lot of Greek families like that, so that movie always cracked me up. So what you're saying is that your family life wasn't like that family in the movie? Opa!!!!
Great job Mike . I got my wife watching your stuff now and we are WHussy crossovers . I served in the Guard a wile and one thing I use in flannel suit world is shit runs down hill . Keep up the fire Kane
We're about the same age and sounds like our fathers were similar, he used to yell at my mom about "setting me off," "don't set me off," etc. I guarantee if he had thought of it he would have used trigger instead, as that's exactly what he was implying. He was always locked and loaded ready to fire at any moment. Frankly, I think triggered sounds stupid but I get why people use it. Being easily triggered implies a lack of emotional security and not something to embrace like many seem to do today.
Friend. Has a business at his shop in the country. Those rare times he just loses it. Mig welder spool kept jamming. He had enough. Unplugged and unhooked the bottle. Dragged it into the back yard. Shot it up with a .22. Both him employees left never came back. Calls me and says man. I done lost it. 😮
Trip your trigger has been in the mix for a long time--it's just a variant of that imo. Regardless slang is always evolving at a pretty good clip. Every gen kinda wants to carve out their own.
Sometimes arguments start because one party has a problem, and conveys it in the wrong manner! She could have said hey Mike, is there anything we can do about the dust as it's settling on everything in the house, or I have asthma, and it's making it difficult for me to breath, whatever the reason might have been? I would ask can't you bring a vacuum attachment to suck up most of the sawdust? I totally get your immediate reaction, but live and learn, and hopefully next time you'll be able to diffuse the situation before wasting your energy on useless anger! I'm a bit older than you, but had the same anger issues from being bullied as a child. As an adult, if anyone got in my space with aggression, it was on. They didn't throw the first punch, I did! At about 50, I started to realize that anger wasn't doing anything for me, and was in fact a detriment. It helped me in my marriage as well because the same applied to my wife when she would say something to set me off that anger would come on me immediately, and there'd be holes in the walls, and broken furniture! 😅 I'm not sure how I let go of that anger stemming from my childhood, but I did, and life's been much better since. I think it was just the foolishness of it, and the aftermath both to my physical, and mental wellbeing. I hope you can learn to deal with it, and get over the abuse you suffered at your mothers hand. Can't wait to see the finished product Mike! 👍😎✌🗽
@@cheriewing4648 That too, thanks for pointing that out. Anger is such a foolish thing, and I wish I had learned to deal with it in my 20's, not my 50's! 😅👍✌🗽
Mike, please don't blame yourself, your mother or your father. You live in the original land of the Karens. By "Karens," I mean two types of women... First, women who grew up extremely wealthy and were never told no, and never told they were wrong about anything. Second are women who were born extremely beautiful and married extremely rich men. Now they've aged out of that beauty, he left and she hates the world. I don't know which version you were dealing with, but Id bet she fits one of those profiles. These women could trigger Jesus. I don't know how you keep your sanity living there. Love you man, you're the best! 😊
@AstroVanTribe That's good to hear. I was in California and I had to get out. Never looked back. I really admire you for hanging in there. You are the best. 😊
Mike sorry you had that kid time with your parents. You appear to me via You Tube a very solid man. Both physically and mentally. You have great manners on camera. From my view point you're good as you ar still on the job site and the uglies are past. Measure 2x and cut once Kimosabee....LOL
@@AstroVanTribe right...but it's decorative as all get out, I think. It could be lights, etc. ect...at the corner of a building, driveway. Just a thought!!!
