I'm a recovering addict of 17 years and I found this very difficult to watch. Everyone was so unhappy. Before addiction after addiction unhappy. I do think he could make great films. His student films reminded me of David Lynch's Eraserhead. That fear of family. I know that fear.

It's odd, the things you don't understand about your parents always become clear when you become a parent. And it's always too late when you do, and then it repeats itself again and again and again.

Addiction has its own intelligence. The tools of the 12-step program help you garner the spiritual power to squelch it. Put down your pride, you cannot do it alone. It will never bring you more than temporary delusion and eventually it will secretly and progressively take away everything you love, take your soul and your life. The choice is yours, one day at a time. The exchange for a joyful clean life beats any cheap high you ever had and you will wonder why you gave it so much power over you.

I am almost 6 yrs sober from meth and opiates but sadly the past year I've gotten myself hooked on Kratom. It's not near as serious as the other addictions I've had but I beat myself up over it no the less. Currently working on quitting that as well.

@@Grisuu thank you for the encouragement 🫶🏻. I am currently tapering down. I do not have the courage, time or energy to cold turkey. I was on Suboxone for 7 yrs and I don't think anything can be as horrific as those WD but still not looking forward to it. God bless

@@user-zt7hi9wi3g Hello Kratom is made from a plant that is in Asian countries and it is kindof like a mild opiate. Turns out it is addictive like opiates as well though.
