I'm cutting down one of my dying black walnuts out back and leaving it in long pieces, I wish I had this setup. I really want to make a cutting board for my kitchen. Any simple way you think I could get one decent flat piece?
I use this for a lot of small diameter logs and short logs that are difficult to cut on a bandsaw mill. I use my Alaskan mills for much larger logs. I also don’t have equipment to move big logs to a mill. I can take my Alaskan mills right to the logs I can’t move by hand.
Do you barn dry or kiln the lumber / timber after cutting ? . I see a pile over there 👉 🪵 sun drying. Do you dry the logs out under cover before cutting what’s the crack ?. What do you use the planks for selling , cladding , tables n chairs etc . As a carpenter I have so many questions . I’d love to have this tech and the space to do it ..I’m 🤤’ing over here.
I air dry and then hire a kiln service to dry and surface the wood. I primarily sell the slabs. I do a fair amount of making. The making side of my business is really growing.
